Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers returns to This Morning for the first time amid his cancer battle
Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers returned to This Morning on Wednesday for the first time since revealing his cancer diagnosis in May 2022.
The 65-year-old motorcyclist turned chef looked like his old self again in the ITV show with the return of his iconic beard.
Appearing alongside his TV partner Simon King, the pair whipped up some lamb koftas with a wholemeal couscous salad and lemon tahini dressing as he gave a health update.
Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were thrilled to see their friend again, exclaiming that he was ‘looking really good’.
Dave gave an update on his health when he returned to TV screens, saying: “I’m doing really well and it’s so nice to be back.

‘Feeling good’: Dave gave his fans a health update while appearing on the show
“Yes, it’s a work in progress, but I have my hair back and I feel great.” It’s the healthy eating you see that does it! No, I’m doing very well.’
Meanwhile, Si joked, “He’s just so annoying, so it’s great!” and gave his best friend a kiss on the cheek.
Phillip and Holly thoroughly enjoyed their meal, with Phil in particular full of praise, stating that it was the ‘only time’ he has ever enjoyed couscous.
On social media, fans of the cooking duo rushed to wish the cook well.

Another said: ‘@HairyBikers Brilliant to see Dave on This Morning. He looks great!’
A third added, “so happy to see the Hairy Bikers together on the show today.”
It comes after the BBC star revealed he is teaming up with his TV partner Simon again as they prepare to hit the road to promote their new cookbook.
David took to Instagram last week to make the happy announcement as he held up the latest book.

Reunited and it feels so good: the couple looked excited to be back together
The beard is back: Dave wore his beard again after losing his facial hair during his ongoing battle with cancer
Update: Back in July, Dave revealed that he had lost his famous beard as a result of undergoing chemotherapy for his cancer while talking about his beard on his Agony Uncles podcast
Amazing: The BBC star is teaming up with his TV co-star Simon King again as they prepare to hit the road to promote their new cookbook
He said, “This is a moment that doesn’t get old. Si and I are so lucky, when our new book arrives we get to open the box, the first glimpse is fantastic! I’m so proud of it’.
Simon added, “This is a special book this one, I hope you enjoy it!”
“Send us your photos with your copies, we’re so glad you have them too!”
Dave provided insight into his grueling treatment that led to him losing “so much weight” after losing his appetite.
Speaking Seasoned podcast from Tommy BanksDave explained that he is still receiving chemotherapy for cancer after being diagnosed last year, and the side effects have left him barely able to eat more than a can of soup.
He said, “It’s funny, when you first start chemotherapy…it’s kind of hard. I still have it. It was really brutal.
‘I’ve lost so much weight and then it’s a struggle to get your calories in.
“At first I was like, ‘Okay, this is great, I can eat all those pies I haven’t eaten in years,’ except [my] appetite was horrible!
“For me, a glutton, it was terrible to lose my appetite. A can of soup was as far as I could go.
“Now I’ve gotten to the point where I’m at the weight I want to be and I want to keep it that way.”
Dave first came out with his cancer diagnosis in May 2022, with chemotherapy causing him to lose all of his hair, including his signature beard.
However, fans were elated when the chef shared an Instagram snap from a recent night out where he sported his facial hair again.
He previously said his chemotherapy even affected his ability to walk, telling Kaye Adams about her How to be 60 podcast: ‘I’m still getting chemotherapy, but what I’m finding out now is that you have to live with the cancer. It’s like a diabetic who needs insulin and constant care. That is the state I am in now.
“Thank God, the chemotherapy doesn’t age you quickly. Because your balance is deteriorating, so for someone with a motorcycle that is a disaster and my walking is actually quite affected.
“But I’m going to film again in May, and we’re going to film around the chemo. That’s just the way it really is.
“There is no option at the moment. All I can say is it’s not spreading and I keep my own OK. So I’m very grateful for that.
Slim down: In a recent interview, the BBC star (left in 2021 and right recently) detailed how his grueling treatment led to him losing ‘so much weight’ after losing his appetite
Back to normal: The star has physio in a desperate attempt to get back on his bike after admitting his chemotherapy was affecting his ability to walk
“Sometimes I feel fine and other times I just need to go to bed. Then I sleep it off a bit, kind of like a bad hangover.’
The TV presenter went on to explain how his treatment had affected him so physically that he had to learn to walk again.
“I really don’t have any symptoms from the cancer, it’s the chemotherapy,” he said. “It’s neuropathy in your feet, so it’s hard to stand. So I had to learn to walk properly again’
Chemotherapy is funny, it’s one of life’s great levellers. It doesn’t matter if you’re on television or on welfare, if you understand that, you’re in the shit. And sometimes the chemo makes you depressed.
“It’s kind of a chemical depression, and it’s really hard because everyone tells you to be positive, but if the chemistry in your body isn’t telling you that story, that’s hard.
“Hopefully there will be more positive chapters after this.”
And as part of looking to the future in a positive way, Dave has bought a new bike to ride when he’s fit.
He continued, “I bought a new motorcycle. At the physio they put me on a pilates ball and rock me back and forth, like I’m on a motorcycle.
“I have a rubber band under one foot and a rubber band under the other and I’m changing clothes and braking and making engine noises.
‘She [the physios] are determined to get me back on the bike.”
He added, “There are so many more adventures I want to have. I don’t have to retire as long as people watch the programs and buy the books that I can chatter on until I’m 110, if only I can breathe.”
Dave suffered from illness in the past after being diagnosed with a cyst in his brain in 1998, and later glaucoma, an eye condition that can lead to blindness.
The same year he was diagnosed with a cyst on his brain, Dave sadly lost his fiancée to cancer, previously describing 1998 as the worst year of his life.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
