Hairy Biker Dave Myers’ wife Lili shares heartfelt tribute to her ‘inspirational’ and ‘exceptional’ husband following his shock death at the age of 66: ‘I feel I’m grieving with a whole nation’

Dave Myers’ wife Lili paid a heartbreaking tribute to her late husband on Thursday after he died last month at the age of 66 following a battle with cancer.

Lili paid tribute to her beloved late husband and also thanked fans for a “huge wave of love and support” she has received.

Dave announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022 and bravely kept the public informed of his progress in a series of emotional TV specials.

At the end of last month, the chef passed away with his family and friends by his side, colleague and lifelong friend Si King revealed.

On Instagram on the Hairy Biker account, she wrote: ‘A message from Lili, Dave’s wife-

‘I will never be able to thank you enough for the enormous outpouring of love, compassion and care you have shown to me, Simon and our families in the last few days since Dave’s passing.

“I want you all to know that I have read every message and comment you have sent… your stories about Dave, your feelings that you have shared with me mean a lot and my heart is filled with gratitude and love.

“I’m amazed at how many hearts he touched and how many people wanted to express their love for what Dave and Si have created over the last twenty years. I know the Hairy Bikers have been a part of your living rooms for so long and I feel your loss as much as you feel mine!

“My husband, David Myers, was a larger-than-life character and he did everything with passion, enthusiasm and generosity of spirit. His energy was endless when it came to cooking and talking about recipes, or cycling and talking about cycling.

‘A great storyteller! And through his stories and TV appearances, he continually inspired and encouraged people to cook, travel and live life to the fullest.

‘An exceptional husband, wonderful stepfather, loyal friend and, in his own words, a creator, never a follower.

“I feel like I’m grieving with an entire nation… and this is something special. My wonderful Dave – Lili Myers.’

Hairy Biker Si King continued filming alone during the latest episode of Hairy Bikers Go West, which aired on Tuesday.

The BBC paid tribute to Dave Myers just days after the star’s death after he passed away last Wednesday following a battle with cancer.

However, Si only continued to film parts of the episode, as Dave was too ill to participate in all the filming.

When the TV chef was left without his significant other, Si shared some heartfelt words as he reflected on how strange it felt to be without his partner.

He admitted: “I really wish my best friend was here because he would absolutely love this,” before adding: “It’s strange without him.”

When Si visited a farm in Tai’N Lon, Dave couldn’t come along: “Unfortunately, due to my ongoing treatment, I have to take a little break today, so that means you’re riding alone, mate.”

Si replied, “Rest in peace, man, rest in peace.”

Si told the farmers that he was the ‘B team’ while Dave, the ‘A team, was resting. “I really wish my best friend was here because he would absolutely love this.” This is what we’re all about, it’s fantastic.

“And he’s a good grower, Dave. Dave and his wife are good growers.’

The Hairy Bikers have always been a double act, and Si admitted he found it strange traveling alone by bike.

“I especially didn’t enjoy riding alone, but I’m going to bring him back some produce and start nibbling on it. It’s strange without him.’

When Dave returned to visit a historic railway line in Portmadog, he harbored a lifelong ambition to drive a steam train.

The star explained: ‘When I visited this area as a young lad, Bob would have already been working on these impressive locomotives. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the money to ride these rails at the time, so this trip feels all the more special.”

After watching his good friend go through the experience, Si said, “It was fun seeing my best friend drive a train. It was just lovely to see a smile on his face because he was having a bloody hard time.’

Dave added: “I missed this, last year Kingy, such a freaking awful year,” before continuing with the heartbreaking words: “Thirty years we’ve been talking nonsense, and yet it goes on for a long time.”
