Hailey Bieber’s dad makes telling comments about rift with daughter after she welcomed first baby with Justin
Hailey Bieber’s father Stephen Baldwin has provided new insight into his life as a grandfather and the status of his complicated relationship with his daughter, who married Justin Bieber in 2018.
The 58-year-old actor is the grandfather of the 28-year-old model and the 30-year-old singer’s first child, son Jack Blues, born in August.
Sources told DailyMail.com in October that the new mother initially chose to keep her parents away from her newborn amid their “eroding” family dynamic.
However, it appears the baby boy has helped heal the family rift and in a sign of unity, Hailey, Justin and baby Jack will spend Christmas with Stephen.
“We’re getting ready for Christmas with Baby Jack Blues,” the proud grandpa revealed in an interview with Too fantastic this week.
He added: “We are excited. And it has grown like a weed. Actually, it looks like a small plump potato. He’s so cute. I can’t stand it.’
The father-of-two – who also shares daughter Alaia Baldwin, 31, with wife Kennya Baldwin, 56 – told the newspaper: “There’s so much I want to say,” but he chose not to share more.

A source told DailyMail.com in October that Hailey’s relationship with her family became strained early in her pregnancy. “She was closer to her mother, but that started to wane when she got pregnant because she didn’t want to tell her family for months,” an insider revealed at the time.
Hailey was outraged in February when her father shared a post on social media asking the public to pray for her and Justin, sparking concern among fans.
The Usual Suspects alumnus reposted a video of Justin singing, which was shared by Victor Marx, founder of All Things Possible Ministries, with the caption: “Christians, please as you think of Justin and Hailey, take a moment to to say a little prayer for them to have wisdom, protection, and to draw closer to the Lord.’
“Hailey had a falling out with her family when her father asked for prayers for Hailey and Justin, and she told him she didn’t want him interfering in her life,” the source later said.
Hailey confirmed the broken relationship in an interview with W magazine in July.
‘I don’t have a very close relationship with my family at this point in my life because I feel like I’m very independent. I am my own individual now and I have built my own family,” she told the glossy.
However, the beauty says she looks back on her childhood fondly. ‘I had a fairly normal childhood. Obviously, I come from the family that I come from, and I’ve always recognized that that was different.
‘But when I look back on my youth and how I grew up, I have very nice, beautiful memories.’
Another point of tension between Bieber and her parents has to do with their differing opinions on politics and religion.
“Her parents are still married and share the same brain,” the insider noted. “Her father is a religious fanatic, and her mother does what her father says.”

Jack is Stephen’s second grandchild; he became a grandparent for the first time when Alaia welcomed daughter Iris with husband Andrew Aronow in August 2020.
And Baldwin told Too Fab that Jack will call him “Grampy,” just like Iris.
He revealed: ‘Grampy. We’re going with Grampy. But it’s with a W. A lot of people don’t know that.’
“So GWAMPY is Gwampy. So that’s kind of a handle that I’ve been working with. It was my granddaughter Iris, my first grandchild… it was the name she gave me,” he explained.
Although Hailey and Justin have teased their firstborn child in several social media posts, they have yet to reveal his face to the world.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the Canadian crooner shared a slew of outtakes from the time he and Hailey had in Costa Rica for a friend’s wedding.
The new mum looked stunning in a bright red dress as they shared the sweet photos.
She seems to be happily adjusting to motherhood as she posted an Instagram carousel in October with the caption, “It’s October and I’m someone’s mom.”
And since becoming a mother, the model has been sporting a diamond-encrusted necklace with the initials of their newborn, JBB.

Days after the baby’s birth, the Rhode Skincare founder shared a photo of her freshly manicured hand while rocking a $2k Isa Grutman “mom” ring.
Fans got a glimpse of the old couple’s child’s tiny foot and Hailey’s manicured hand when Justin announced the news of his birth via Instagram in late August.
“WELCOME HOME JACK BLUES BIEBER,” the proud father wrote in a caption to his 295 million followers at the time.
Jack was delivered by Dr. Thais Aliabadi, the same obstetrician Kylie and sister Khloé Kardashian used to deliver their children, according to the birth certificate.
He was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where Kylie’s daughter Stormi Webster was born in 2018.
