As the name implies, Hades 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed action game, Hades. Just like the original, Hades 2 will be an action-rogue-like adventure set in a mythological underworld inspired by Greek mythology. You fight with some cool, swishy weapons. Die. Fight some more, maybe this time in a different place. Die again. If you’re lucky, you might flirt with a shockingly good-looking character. Overall, the approach to the story, gameplay and art direction is very similar Hades – which is really good considering how good Hades took it all off.
The biggest change will be the protagonist. Instead of playing as Zagreus, Hades 2 lets players fight as a mysterious, nameless character known as the Princess of the Underworld. A description of the game touts a “larger, deeper mythical world,” where the Princess of the Underworld will fight to defeat the forces of the Titan of Time and wield the divine powers of Olympus. We don’t have much information about new gameplay such as weapons, but trailers and game descriptions so far say she will use witchcraft and dark sorcery to fight.
According to previous updates, Supergiant Games plans to release early access to the game in Spring 2024. This technical test will test the team identifies and resolves problems that it has missed so far, and ensure that the early access version of Hades 2 as polished as possible. Supergiant Games has emphasized the importance of user feedback in the development process, so if you want to be one of the early pioneers in testing the next Hades game, you can. sign up for a chance to do it now on Steam.
