Gwyneth Paltrow’s successful court victory on Thursday was shockingly overshadowed by news of Donald Trump’s impeachment, sending a social media frenzy as momentous legal battles raged.

“The winner of Sanderson v Paltrow will face Trump in the next round,” another Twitter user quipped when news of the former president’s impeachment broke.

“I wonder if Trump is calling Gwyneth Paltrow for advice right now,” a third commented.

Using a depiction of a roller coaster filled with nightmarish skeletons roaring past carriages of horrified revelers, one meme creator said the image illustrated an “indicted Donald Trump entering the courthouse as the innocent Gwyneth Paltrow exits.”

After the actress’ triumph was quickly followed by news of Trump’s impending arrest, another quipped: “Donald Trump has a lot to live up to if he wants his trial to be as fun as Paltrow’s.”

After numerous Republicans jumped in support of the embattled former president, one Twitter user quipped: “I’m pretending every shrill Republican defense of Trump is actually about the Gwyneth Paltrow ski accident trial.”

Paltrow won her case after a jury found she was not at fault in a skiing accident that injured 76-year-old Terry Sanderson.

But the verdict didn’t stop others from joking about his skiing skills, with one tweeting: “Instead of jail, motion to sentence Trump to an afternoon of skiing with Gwyneth Paltrow.”

The Goop founder has previously been the focus of ridicule after she made a series of hilariously inconsequential claims over the years, including an admission that she “went off the rails” during the pandemic by “eating bread.”
Their legal battle came to an end on Thursday after it took jurors just two hours and 20 minutes to reach their verdict.

As he left, the actress leaned briefly over Sanderson’s shoulder and whispered into his ear.

Speaking outside court, Sanderson’s attorney, Kristin Van Orman, said she was not impressed by Paltrow, adding: “I’ve been a lawyer for 30 years and juries never surprise me.”

Of Sanderson, she added: “He’s in pain, he’s a very nice man.”

Sanderson filed for damages in January 2019, initially seeking $3.1 million. The sum was reduced by a judge to $300,000 in compensation for the injuries he suffered.

But Paltrow later countersued her fellow skier, asking for a token dollar and for her legal expenses to be covered.
