Gwyneth Paltrow wishes gal pal Amy Griffin a happy birthday… amid her much-talked about trial

Gwyneth Paltrow took to Instagram on Tuesday to wish her friend Amy Griffin a happy birthday in an effusive Instagram post.

The Talented Mr. Ripley star, 50, shared a candid selfie of the two in an outdoor setting on her Stories, with both ladies sporting stylish turtleneck sweaters.

“Happy birthday to this absolute angel,” she wrote, adding, “Amy, you are grace and strength personified.” I adore you.’

Both Paltrow and Griffin appeared to go makeup-free for the friendly snap, with the actress sporting her blonde locks in light waves.

The post comes in the midst of the sixth day of Paltrow’s ski accident trial in Utah, where her attorney read statements from her sons Apple, 18, and Moses, 16, about the 2016 collision that allegedly left the optometrist Retired, 76 year old Terry Sanderson with a brain injury.

In the courtroom, Paltrow wore black leather culottes, a pink blouse with an oversized ’80s-style tie, and sat with her lawyers drinking green juice from a bottle.

The resort where he allegedly hit Sanderson “covered up his misconduct” because of his celebrity, the lawsuit claimed.

Lawyers for Sanderson, who is suing Paltrow for $300,000, accused the Deer Valley Resort in Utah of pandering to the actress because she spent $8,980 on ski lessons for her children.

They claimed in court that the resort gave her a “wink and a nod” when she punched Mr. Sanderson saying it was his fault in an accident scene report.

The allegations were denied by a Deer Valley manager and the ski instructor who was first on the scene.

The retired optometrist claims he suffered four broken ribs and a permanent brain injury that has drastically changed his personality for the worse.

Apple was the last witness to appear, though not in person, as one of Paltrow’s lawyers read her testimony.

Apple told the court that she first learned of the collision when an angry Paltrow arrived at the shelter 10 minutes later, ranting that a “hole” had missed her.

She said: ‘My mom told me. She told us what happened. She walked in and seemed a bit surprised. She said this, I got a hole in it, right in the back of her. She did this move by showing how it happened.

Apple said the collision was discussed over lunch, and Paltrow reiterated that she had been skied and hit. She added: ‘She decided to get off, which she never does, but she was in shock. I’ve never seen her really upset like that. She was clearly and visibly upset and she was in a bit of pain. That’s why she went to the spa to get a massage.

Meanwhile, Moses said he did not see the collision and was skiing with his instructor Eric, in his statement.

He said of what he saw: ‘I saw my mother and a person behind her who had crashed. When I was skiing, I heard my mom yell at the guy. She was saying something like “what the hell? You just ran into me.”

He said that his mother had been on the ground for about two minutes after the accident, but got up on her own.

Although the children did not appear in person, Paltrow’s attorney, Steven Owens, said her husband, Brad Falchuk, 52, could be called before the trial ends at noon Thursday.

The court was also shown a short animation showing the moment of impact as described by Paltrow.

It showed Sanderson hitting Paltrow from the left rear, the two sliding together a short distance and collapsing to the right in a ‘spoon’ position.

Sanderson’s lawyers objected to the inclusion of the animation because it “distorts reality”, but the judge allowed it for demonstration purposes.

Paltrow is countering the lawsuit for a token $1 plus legal fees in the case that her lawyers say is “total garbage.”

The trial is expected to continue until the end of the week.
