Gwyneth Paltrow lists the house that Goop built for $30million: Empty nester puts deluxe Brentwood compound on market as she prepares to send Moses off to college

Gwyneth Paltrow is downsizing after becoming an empty nester.

The talented Mr. Ripley star, 51, has put her 8,000-square-foot Los Angeles mansion up for sale while her son Moses, 18, heads off to college after graduating high school last month.

The Oscar winner is selling her home — which features a guesthouse complete with movie theater and wine cellar — in LA’s Brentwood neighborhood for $29.99 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The actress bought the house with her ex-husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 47, in 2012 for $9.95 million. The former couple share son Moses and daughter Apple, 20, together.

The duo was married for almost ten years from 2003 to 2014. After their “conscious uncoupling,” Paltrow married Brad Falchuk in 2018, and he and his two children also moved into the property, according to real estate agent Lea Porter.

Porter added that the star is selling the house to downsize as her children get older.

The house, built in 1950 and renovated in 2009, sits on two-thirds of an acre in Mandeville Canyon.

The property had a total of eight bedrooms and eleven bathrooms, including the one-bedroom apartment above the home’s garage.

It offers a lot of privacy, with Porter saying, “The privacy factor is huge.”

Inspired by classic California architecture, the home’s gray brick exterior exudes a timeless charm, further enhanced by the lush green front yard.

The hall at the front has a black and white tiled floor and French doors. It leads to the living room, ideal for hosting, with a fireplace, bar, endless seating space and white panel walls.

The kitchen is a chef’s dream, with high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, black tile floors and a huge island.

The backyard features a deep plunge pool and a guesthouse with a temperature-controlled wine cellar, gym, games room, office and movie theater.

The listing states that the property is high-tech and has sediment and carbon block filtration and alkaline drinking water systems.

The GOOP founder is selling the home after completing her new property in Montecito, California – which is also home to other famous residents such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as Oprah Winfrey.

She also owns a home in Amagansett, New York.

According to Porter, Paltrow and Falchuk plan to split their time between Montecito, New York and possibly a third home in Los Angeles.

Moses, Gwyneth’s youngest child, attends Brown University in Rhode Island and was recently cheered on by both his parents, who reunited for his high school graduation in May.

The graduation came weeks after Gwyneth admitted she was increasingly worried about the prospect of becoming an empty nester.

“It’s giving me a bit of a nervous breakdown, if I’m honest,” she admitted at an event for her wellness brand Goop. The Hollywood Reporter.

“I started saying, ‘Oh my God, and I have to quit my job, I have to sell my house, and I have to move.’ It stirs things up,” she said.

‘My identity is being a mother. Apple will be 20 years old in May. So I’ve oriented my whole life around them, their schedules and when school starts.”

She explained, “You start to let go little by little as they drive around on their own or do certain things. It’s a slower process.’

Gwyneth added: ‘I feel really lucky because I have a close group of mum friends and we have all raised our children side by side. So we’re kind of in it together.’

In March, Gwyneth revealed that her husband Brad’s son Brody was also attending college, in an interview with The Sunday times.

“Brad [Falchuk] and I have boys going to college. “It will be interesting to see how the morning routine changes when there are no children in the house.”

On how she feels about their departure, she said: “On the one hand, incredible sadness. A deep sense of impending sadness. On the other hand, this is exactly what should happen.”

“Your children are supposed to be young adults who can achieve, cope, make connections and be resilient. That’s exactly what you want. And that means they leave the house.”
