Gwyneth Paltrow is ‘horrified’ at Derek Blasberg fleeing her Hamptons home after ‘catastrophic’ diarrhea – as insiders reveal if their friendship can be saved

Gwyneth Paltrow was left “horrified” after her close friend Derek Blasberg lost control of his bowels in her Hamptons home and fled the scene, but she hopes they will “eventually laugh” about the incident, insiders say.

Earlier this month, DailyMail.com revealed that the socialite and celebrity hanger-on was the the culprit behind the horrific ordeal that was first reported as a blind item in a popular gossip newsletter.

Since then, both Gwyneth, 51, and the fashion journalist, 42, have kept quiet. Insiders say the Goop founder is feeling “bad,” but knows they shouldn’t be hanging out with him for the time being.

Gwyneth would eventually like to laugh about this with Derek, but at the moment there is still a lot of shame,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

“They both know that if they’re ever seen together or if he ever comes back to her house and they go out to dinner, that’s all people will be talking about.”

They continued: ‘It’s not that they’re not friends and won’t be friends in the future, it’s just a little bit awkward and they both realise that some time has to pass before they see each other again.

“The chances of them becoming friends in the future are quite high. She has put the worst events in her life behind her.”

According to the source, Gwyneth and her friends all reacted in the same way to the scenario, denying that the actress-turned-wellness-guru is being seen as a snitch.

“At first she found it scary, but later she saw the humor in it and had a good laugh,” the two said.

‘Most of Gwyneth’s friends find it shockingly funny and gross, but they don’t think any differently about Gwyneth.’

A new blind item from the email newsletter titled Popb***h made it clear that Gwyneth wasn’t the one who leaked the story on the Hamptons set.

“Since the spooky Hamptons head was revealed to be celebrity barnacle Derek Blasberg, Gwyneth Paltrow has been on the receiving end of a fair share of criticism,” it read.

‘Society types are shocked that she would break a cardinal rule of hosting and gossip about her guest’s gastrointestinal indiscretion. But to be fair to Gwynnie, the leak may not have been her.’

The report continues: ‘Gwyneth was having lunch with Oprah Winfrey and Jerry Seinfeld when her angry housekeeper called, screaming loudly about the horrors she had discovered and how much she hated “that f**king boyfriend” of hers.

“And — most damning of all — complaining about the tip left at the crime scene.”

The source noted that Gwyneth was adamant the situation would soon be old news, concluding with, “She’s upset that it’s out there and everyone in the world knows about it, but it will pass.”

The internet went into meltdown last month when the first blind report in popular gossip newsletter Popb***h reported that Gwyneth had been ordered to clean up “Ozempian-induced diarrhea” at someone’s home.

“Story goes that a recent guest of Gwynnie’s disastrously pooped his bed while staying there and subsequently fled back to the city before facing the consequences,” it reads.

The report revealed that the scandal had become “the Hamptons set’s favorite gossip story to text to each other,” and continued: “Ozempic-induced diarrhea is becoming a hot topic among hosts there — because so many of their guests are using it. So expect laundromats to be booked solid come July 4.”

Insiders later told DailyMail.com that Derek – once described as “one of the most connected men in show business” – was the perpetrator and that he had conveniently blamed the incident on the popular weight-loss drug before reportedly fleeing the premises.

“It’s not Ozempic, he just told everyone,” the insider said, before revealing how the secret broke through the Hamptons set.

“Gwyneth told Oprah, Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, and Larry David,” they continued.

“It’s shocking how many people know this story and how he kept it out of The Post… probably through his best friend [socialite Dasha Zhukova] – whose mother recently married Rupert Murdoch.’

Derek was no stranger to hanging out with the actress at her five-bedroom Long Island home, where she married Brad Falchuk in 2018.

In 2022, the fashion maven posted a photo of herself and the actress celebrating her 50th birthday at the sprawling estate.

And it seems that four weeks before the news broke, someone tried to expose Derek as the ghost pooper by posting two poop emojis, a toilet emoji, and a dynamite emoji under the Instagram post.

Before his recent toilet troubles thrust him into the spotlight, Derek, unlike some of his closest friends, had a relatively private life.

The former TV host and author, who wrote Very Classy: Even More Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady, not only considers Gwyneth a good friend, but also regularly spends time with the likes of Karlie Kloss, Sienna Miller, Kendall Jenner and Demi Moore.

He recently served as head of fashion and beauty partnerships at YouTube and is a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest, and several international editions of Vogue.

Thanks to his influence and connections as a top fashion journalist, socialite and TV personality, his birthday parties often serve as a warm-up to the Met Gala for its A-list attendees.

His 42nd birthday party in April was attended by A-listers including Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Andy Cohen.

In 2022, his party was attended by Jeff Bezos, Hailey Bieber and Leonardo DiCaprio, among others.

Derek is also a Senior Fellow at the Gagosian Gallery and has written for The New York Times, WSJ Magazine, Elle, Women’s Wear Daily, Glamour and The London Sunday Times over the course of his career.

He currently lives in New York with his partner, Imaginary co-founder Nick Brown.

In 2021, the couple welcomed three-year-old twins Elizabeth Grace and Frederick Noah via surrogate.

Elsewhere in the original blind item it was stated that the popularity of Ozempic is causing problems among the rich and famous vacationing together in the Hamptons this summer.

Ozempic, which is typically used to treat diabetes and help people lose weight quickly, has a common side effect that affects one in 10 users.

In recent months, a handful of celebrities have admitted to using Ozempic, including Oprah, Elon Musk, Sharon Osbourne, Chelsea Handler and Robbie Williams.
