Guy Sebastian sends shockwaves through the entertainment industry as he sensationally quits The Voice Australia

Guy Sebastian has sensationally left The Voice Australia.

The Australian Idol winner shared the lengthy shock announcement on Instagram on Wednesday evening via several black and white slides.

The 43-year-old singer started by congratulating the show’s current winner, Reuben De Melo, before explaining how he came to his dramatic decision.

“I have some news to share with you all about my role as a voice coach,” he began.

‘I have made the decision to take a break from the best red chair in the world.

“It’s been six great years as a coach and it was honestly the best performance ever! I have only good things to say about the show itself, and sharing the panel with such great coaches was a pleasure.

He then reflected on his time on the show.

‘The best thing about the show is how positive it is and how much care and passion goes into making it a safe space for artists.

For me it is now time to focus more on my core, namely writing and performing new music.

I’m busy planning shows in Australia and worldwide and I’m really looking forward to getting out and connecting with all of you there.

I have been reading comments from you for far too long asking when I will visit your city/country and it is high time I visit!

I’ve been working on this upcoming album for four years and I’ve put everything I have into it, so I have to pay respect to that effort and the art I’ve created.

Whoever dares to take my seat, don’t get too comfortable… I will struggle without dignity when I am ready to return.

Thanks everyone, it’s been great and let’s keep supporting new Aussie talent – it’s some of the best in the world!
