The film, called Hindi Vindi, will be released in Australia next month and tells the story of an Australian-Indian boy who goes on a musical journey, with Guy taking on the role of James.

‘It was a surreal experience for me to work with a fantastic cast of iconic Bollywood actors, in my first ever acting role. It was something I will never forget.

‘I am humbled and have much more to say and thank you to an amazing production team at @24sixfilms. As soon as I read the script I was instantly hooked on the story.

‘Hindi Vindi is emotional and heartfelt, telling the story of an Aussie-Indian boy and his musical journey. I was also fortunate enough to write and record original songs to support the soundtrack.

“I’m really proud of this project, and I know I’ve made my Indian mother proud! It will be in theatres across Australia in September!”

Guy rose to fame when he won the first season of Australian Idol in 2003 and is now best known as a judge on The Voice Australia.

However, Guy recently warned candidates for a television talent show that winning a show does not always guarantee career success.

Speaking with news.com.au Last week, the ARIA Award-winning singer said: ‘After winning Idol I never had the mentality of, “Okay, I’m ready!”‘

‘I wanted to be a sponge, learn as much as I could and run with it. What often surprises me is that there is still this mentality: “I go to the show and then my life is determined.”‘

Sebastian also described the huge changes the music industry has gone through, making it even more competitive, since he won Australian Idol 21 years ago.

“The world has changed so much. You have to work harder than ever before,” he warned potential candidates.

“It’s no longer about the landscape where you’re young and you get a contract – and then there’s this whole department that’s just focused on creating an aura or an album or a sound for you.”
