In her bizarre interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, Drew Barrymore urged the vice president to be the “Momala of the country.”
Harris was stunned by President Biden and joined Barrymore for an episode of her daytime talk show, which aired Monday. Over the course of the interview, the two discussed many topics, including Harris’ polarizing laugh.
Then, in a chilling moment, Barrymore called the vice president “Momala.”
“I’ve been thinking about how we all really need a huge hug in the world right now,” Barrymore said.
Barrymore, who had snuggled uncomfortably close to Harris on the couch, continued to plead with the vice president to become a “mother” to the entire US: “But in our country we need you to be the Momala of the country.”
Harris joined actress Drew Barrymore on her daytime talk show, where the two sat unusually close together on the large couch. In a cringe-inducing moment, Barrymore called an unamused Kamala Harris ‘Momala’
“I’ve been thinking about how we all really need a huge hug in the world right now,” Barrymore said, before adding, “But in our country, we need you to be the Momala of the country.”
Harris smiled and seemed unsure how to respond to the new name.
“Yeah, I mean,” the vice president said without finishing her thoughts.
Then Barrymore leaned forward and held Harris’ hands as the audience applauded. The actress stared into the vice president’s eyes with a soulful look, while Harris seemed slightly uncomfortable.
At another point in the interview, Harris defended her laugh, suggesting that those who joke about it are exhibiting a form of sexism.
“You asked me earlier what it means to be the first woman [vice president]Harris told Barrymore.
“And you know, it’s funny, because people are still getting used to this, right?”
Harris then claimed that an example of continued misogyny where the public adapts to having a female vice president is when people draw more attention to her smile or mannerism.
‘I mean, my staff for example, they sometimes show me little things that I just have fun with. Apparently some people like to talk about the way I laugh,” Harris said.
Barrymore pushed the vice president onto the couch and said enthusiastically, “Oh yeah. OK. I love your Smile.’
Harris is considered unlikable and even the Democratic National Committee held focus groups on the vice president to understand why voters don’t like her, according to a report this month.
Some voters in the focus groups cited her laugh and others in the group wondered whether President Joe Biden likes her.
The 59-year-old’s approval rating is in the mid-30s — an all-time low for the modern vice presidency, as she struggled with bad headlines during her first three years in office.

Critics who say Harris is unsympathetic often cite her laugh as the reason she misleads people. The vice president’s approval rating is somewhere in the mid-30s
“I have my mother’s smile,” Harris told Barrymore. ‘And I especially grew up with a group of women who laughed from their belly. They were laughing, sitting in the kitchen and drinking their coffee, telling big stories with big laughs.”
“You know, I’ll never be like that,” Harris said before giving her hand a graceful chuckle.
The Democrat continued her story: “I’m just not that person. And I think it’s really important that we remind each other and our young people: Don’t be limited by other people’s perception of what this looks like, and who you need to be – how you need to act to be right.”
‘It is very important. It is, it is important,” she concluded.
Barrymore, who is known for her empathetic interview style, responded with, “I love your smile, and I love that message.”
