A gunman is locked in a hotel room at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, making threats and causing a large police presence on the Strip.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said it received a report of domestic violence at the hotel and casino around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

When they tried to make contact with the occupants of the room, a man refused to open the door, saying he was armed.

Police and SWAT teams have now been dispatched to the hotel and crisis negotiators are said to be on their way.

“We are actively trying to resolve this situation,” police tweeted, urging the public to avoid the area.
