Guildford stabbing: Chilling final moments of Josese McGoon before he was allegedly stabbed to death in broad daylight

A terrifying CCTV camera has emerged of a man moments before he was allegedly killed in a horrific attack in broad daylight

Josese McGoon, 37, and a friend had just finished eating pizza when they walked to a friend’s house in Bangor Street, Guildford, in Sydney’s west, at about 1.30pm on Saturday.

Three masked men, dressed in black, got out of a blue or silver Toyota sedan and attacked the pair, before stabbing Mr McGoon in the stomach.

His friend managed to distract one of the alleged attackers by running back to his car, which was parked on nearby Cardigan Street.

He then drove back to the location and found an injured Mr. McGoon lying in the street with abdominal injuries.

His friend drove Mr McGoon to Westmead Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery but died three hours later.

His attackers were still at large on Sunday evening.

Mr McGoon was captured on CCTV walking down the street shortly before the stabbing.

The Toyota sedan from which the suspected attackers had gotten out was also seized, as was the car McGoon’s friend drove to hospital.

NSW Police suspected the group had “intentional intent” but the alleged attack appeared to be random.

“They clearly had a purpose when they went to that location, they knew what they were doing and it appeared our victim and our witness were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Holland told media.

“We don’t know at this point whether there is a connection to the attack, but there are concerns about why they were attacked in the middle of the day, in the middle of the street.”

Although the weapon has not yet been found, Mr Holland believes that, based on Mr McGoon’s injuries, it ‘could be a stabbing weapon’.

What is of concern to police is that the alleged attack took place during the day in a suburban area and that Mr McGoon was not involved in any criminal activity.

“The victim currently has no connection to any organised crime networks or motorcycle gangs, and neither does the witness. The victim is known to the police, but not for serious matters,” said Chief Inspector Holland.

Mr McGoon’s friend is reportedly helping police but he is now “concerned for his safety and welfare”, Detective Chief Inspector Holland said.

Police are asking any witnesses who were on Bangor Street at the time of the stabbing to come forward with any information they may have.

The investigation is still ongoing and police have combed the area and are appealing for CCTV footage and information from local residents.

The alleged stabbing was the second fatal stabbing in Sydney in 12 hours, after a 30-year-old man was stabbed with a machete in Concord in Sydney’s west on Friday night.

A 15-year-old boy has now been charged with murder.
