Thousands of guests at MGM Resorts on the Las Vegas strip have been locked out of their hotel rooms due to a cyberattack, according to reports.
MGM Resorts International has approximately 48,000 rooms on The Strip. The company’s properties include Mandalay Bay, the Bellagio, Luxor and MGM Grand.
The outage affects the company’s emails, reservations, bookings, room keys and casino machines.
The company said in a statement: “MGM Resorts recently identified a cybersecurity issue affecting some of the company’s systems. Immediately after discovering the issue, we quickly launched an investigation with the help of leading third-party cybersecurity experts.
“We also notified law enforcement and took immediate action to protect our systems and data, including shutting down certain systems. Our investigation is ongoing and we are working hard to determine the nature and extent of the case.”
A concierge at the iconic Bellagio hotel told NBC News 3 that the entire system is broken “internally and externally” and it is unclear when it will be fixed.
Meanwhile, guests at MGM properties have taken to social media to talk about the situation, with many saying they can’t get into their rooms.
