Groom is slammed as ‘pathetic’ for working on laptop in the middle of his wedding

  • Many online users slammed him for not putting his job on hold due to his wedding

A groom has been criticized online after he was found working on his laptop in the middle of his own wedding.

Tech mogul Casey Mackrell tied the knot this weekend with his girlfriend Grace Thoenen, both from Florida.

But when Casey, co-founder of the software company Thoughtly, pulled out his computer in the middle of the reception to work on a project for work, many social media users were shocked.

His colleague Torrey Leonard shared a photo of Casey sitting at a table typing on his laptop while everyone else at the wedding hit the dance floor on LinkedIn, and it sparked a lot of criticism over his decision to work on his own wedding.

Torrey explained in the caption that “Casey had built a reputation for himself” at work as “the guy who sits on his laptop” when they go to bars.

“Last week, Thoughtly landed a client that needed to launch in two weeks,” he added.

“Casey just happened to be getting married within that two-week period… So here he is completing a pull request for his own wedding.

“Congratulations Casey, now please take some time off.”

People quickly responded to the LinkedIn post with their thoughts on Casey’s fierce dedication to his work, with many slamming him for not putting work on hold for his wedding.

‘This is not flex. It’s sad,” one wrote, while another agreed: “This has to be one of the most depressing posts I’ve ever seen on LinkedIn.”

“This work ethic should not be publicized or applauded,” someone else added.

“That doesn’t say much about the company, if he was the ONLY person who could handle this that day.”

‘Completely bizarre to post this. This is nothing to brag about,” said a fourth comment.

‘This man does [on] his laptop, working at his own wedding and you congratulate him? Completely tone-deaf.”

‘This is extremely sad. It’s his wedding day,” said a fifth. ‘Work does not come at the expense of your family. WOW.”

“If I were his wife I would file an annulment the next day,” another user announced.

‘Of course I’m sure there were several red flags about this. This isn’t it, buddy.’

Another person said his action “demonstrated a horrible lack of self-awareness,” while someone else said he “wanted to be the exact opposite of Casey.”

“Really sad that Casey wasn’t committed enough to call off the wedding,” another user sarcastically commented.

“Someone who could really grind would have called it off as soon as the contract was signed.”
