Groom accidentally loses his bride-to-be’s $2,000 wedding dress on top of his car before driving off… and now they can’t find it

A groom-to-be is in trouble after he accidentally loses his bride’s $2,000 wedding dress after placing it on his car and driving away.

Tom Mitton and his fiancée Lindel Cain were collecting items from a storage facility in Adelaide on Sunday morning when he placed the package containing his wife’s Belgian-made dress on the roof of the car so it wouldn’t be crushed by its heavy boxes.

But crucially, he forgot to put the gown back in the car before driving away.

“We were pulling into Burnside Village (shopping centre) when the penny dropped, and we quickly turned around and tried to retrace our steps,” Miss Cain said.

‘We parked the car and walked along the road with trucks driving past us at 90 km/h, trying to find the coffin somewhere on the side of the road.’

Despite retracing their steps, the couple was unable to find the dress.

Mr Mitton said he was ‘angry’ at himself for his mistake.

“For a man who is not very emotional, there were a lot of emotions yesterday, a lot of tears on his behalf because he could see how upset I was,” she said.

She said there was “a lot of laughter and an attempt to keep the situation light” but that she was understandably upset.

Luckily the wedding isn’t until 2025.

“It’s going to be a very good speech at the wedding,” Miss Cain joked.
