Grim discovery on ritzy California beach sparks panic among rich locals
A severed human leg was discovered on the beach of a wealthy coastal community in California.
A beachgoer was on an early Christmas Day walk along the Bluff Cove Trail when they came across part of a human leg atop the rocks of the Palos Verdes Estates shoreline, near the 800 block of Paseo Del Mar.
Officers from the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department responded to the scene after a call came in around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning informing them of the grim discovery.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office recovered the remains, but no identification has been made.
“We have no reason to believe there was any foul play in this case,” said Aaron Belda, the department’s captain. The daily news from Los Angeles.
Cadaver dogs were also sent to the area to search for any additional human remains, but nothing further was found.
The shocking discovery comes just one day after the boat of two missing fishermen was found crashed on the coast of Palos Verdes.

The police assume that there is no foul play in the discovery on Wednesday morning
The Los Angeles County Fire Department was called around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning after the couple never returned for a planned meeting with a friend, despite being expected back at midnight.
A boat search began just 30 minutes after the initial call and the ship was eventually found crashed and overturned in a rocky area at the base of the cliffs between Bluff Cove and Lunada Bay in Palos Verdes Estates. CBS News reports this.
Several people who saw the wreck told KTLA News that the boat was riddled with holes and life jackets.
The discovery sparked a search along the coastline with several people trying to find signs of the missing men on foot.
Efforts also continued in the water with boats, jet skis and a drone trying to locate the men.
Due to the dangers of rough weather conditions, the search was scaled back. The Coast Guard finally announced the suspension on Wednesday after finding no evidence that the men could still be alive.
Police found no evidence to suggest the severed human leg belonged to any of the missing fishermen a day later, The Daily News reported.
“We are not ruling anything out, but that has not yet been determined,” Belda notes.

When officers from the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department arrived on the scene, they found more bones in the area.
“And sure enough, when they got there, they saw what looked like a skull and part of a skeleton, a torso in the surf,” Belda said. The daily breeze in November.
Investigators from the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the call and ultimately confirmed that the bones were those of a human.
Information about the possible age or gender of the remains and information about the date or cause of death were not available after the discovery, prompting an investigation.

Captain Belda told DailyMail.com that a secondary search is planned for Thursday afternoon, but the investigation is still in its early stages.
