The actress opened up about working on the show during an interview with InStyle and shared how watching Sandra Oh play Dr. Starring Cristina Yang during the show’s early seasons endeared her to the series.
Francis also stated that she was somewhat intimidated by the prospect of working with the show’s longtime cast members.
“There was definitely pressure on the first day to come in and just learn. They’ve been doing this for a long time, so on the first day, to be honest, a lot of us were still learning how to take gloves off and put them back on,” she recalls.
However, the actress stated that the program’s veterans quickly bonded with their new cast members, which made filming particularly enjoyable.
‘The cast was so welcoming. The fact that we all have each other (the new interns and I) was really nice. It was actually more fun than I expected,” she said.
