Former Jetstar pilot Greg Lynn was heard on secret police wiretaps performing an unusual sex act while behind the wheel of the Nissan Patrol hiding the bodies of two elderly campers.
The 57-year-old was found guilty of the murder of elderly camper Carol Clay on Tuesday, but acquitted of the murder of her secret lover Russell Hill.
Daily Mail Australia can reveal that detectives tasked with bringing Lynn to justice have endured an uphill task listening to and documenting hours of recordings obtained from bugs hidden in the vehicle, home and phone of the pilot.
A detective who listened to 3,150 recordings of Lynn talking to herself concluded that the ex-pilot was “homophobic, narcissistic, chauvinistic, misogynistic and prejudiced,” a preliminary court hearing was told.
Police sources confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that in one recording, Lynn described out loud how he did an obscene act to himself in the car, using sunscreen.
The recording was not tendered at Lynn’s murder trial in the Supreme Court of Victoria, along with every other piece of audio obtained by Victoria Police’s Missing Persons Squad.
Justice Michael Croucher of the Supreme Court of Victoria ruled that Lynn’s recorded comments during the trial were inadmissible because they did not provide any real evidence to support the prosecution’s case.
At the preliminary hearing in January 2023, Detective Leading Senior Constable Daniel Passingham told the court he had heard Lynn contemplating murder as he drove to the Wonnangatta Valley shortly before his arrest.

The now former Missing Persons Squad detective said police made thousands of recordings of Lynn in his car in the 11 months before his arrest in Victoria’s high country.
“From what I had heard from the suspect he had expressed it as a chapter in life,” said Senior Constable Passingham.
The detective also claimed that while driving alone in his car, Lynn said his “book was written.”
“These are in the recordings taken while he was driving the Nissan Patrol,” he said.
While sitting alone in his car in May 2021, Lynn turned up the volume on his radio after a news report reported the couple’s disappearance.
“I put a damn trigger lock on it. You need to get a second set of Trigger Lock keys and stick them in there… They just have to keep pushing the whole time, right?’ he was heard saying in the recordings.
Later that day, after hearing another news story on the subject, Lynn went on a bizarre rant.
“They’re sitting on a beach in f–king Queensland. Nudist beach. Ass naked. Playing on his f–king drone. Running up and down the beach. Taking pictures of the young people. Who has the biggest dick?’ he said to himself.

Greg Lynn would routinely talk to himself while behind the wheel of this Nissan Patrol. He didn’t know the police were listening
By the time police began listening to Lynn in November 2020, he was already back at the site where he had dumped the campers’ bodies and destroyed most of the evidence. He admitted in court that he destroyed the evidence.
Lynn could often be heard talking and singing to herself in the car.
Detectives had listened to Lynn when they called to send a helicopter with Special Operations Group officers to arrest him.
‘I saw some people fishing, what is that, a snakebite. Would be a good way to go. I just never know when it’s coming, f***, s***. Australia’s gift,’ Lynn murmured.
“I think she knows I’m on my way to the top, one of the pages of the last chapter.”
Lynn’s behavior behind the wheel of his 4WD stemmed from allegations made by his ex-wife’s mother, outlined at the preliminary hearing, that his behavior was often ‘bizarre’.
“Greg’s behavior in general would be described as bizarre. I think he has a twisted mind,” she told the coroner after her daughter Lisa’s alleged suicide.
‘He has done things in the past such as killing animals and the neighbour’s pet, refusing to feed the children when he was supposed to be looking after them, and on one occasion he exploded in a fit of uncontrollable rage when we were having dinner at the Macedonia Hotel.’

Lisa’s mother told the court that Lynn verbally assaulted a man in the bar after he made the mistake of talking to Lisa.
He then became “enraged” with his then wife after leaving the hotel, she told the coroner.
“The only thing I would like to add to this is that as far as I am concerned Greg is responsible for the death of my daughter as a result of the mental torture he inflicted,” Lisa’s mother told the court.
“I know she lived in absolute fear of Greg. I accept from what (I have been told) regarding the circumstances in which she died that she was alone that night.
“Greg wasn’t there, but her actions were a culmination of the fear and terror she lived under.”
Lynn will return to court in July for a pre-sentence hearing.
