Greg Rutherford has revealed his ‘terrible’ Dancing On Ice injury as he heads to hospital for surgery.
The Dancing On Ice star, 37, missed the final after suffering a significant injury the morning of rehearsals but has not yet revealed what it was.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the Olympian said he had “effectively given myself a C-section” after tearing his abdominal muscles while trying to skate through Colin Grafton’s legs.
Greg told fans: ‘Today is surgery day. A lot of people have asked, “What happened?”
“I’ve been a bit busy and obviously just recovering from the initial injury before I had the operation, which I hadn’t gotten around to talking about.

‘Long story short, I jumped through Colin’s legs and managed to tear all my abs and get a hernia. So I effectively gave myself a C-section.
“So yeah, it was terribly painful. Today he has to have surgery and I am completely on the mend. It was very painful, quite terrible.’
Greg then posted the video of the dangerous move that caused the nasty injury.
The athlete’s wife, Susie, was present in the video and joked about how she told fans that his penis had broken off and they asked if that had happened.
She also replied to another follower: It’s really nothing gory or gruesome; just very painful and a bit of a freak accident.
“He didn’t comment on it because specialists have been figuring out how to pinpoint this/work out next steps, so I think the show was keen to say nothing until they got an official report back.”
She added, “I hope this clears it up!”
When a fan joked that the incident might have involved his genitals, Susie responded, “No, honestly it all sounded so suspicious that we’re not surprised people wanted to know!”
The Olympian would have to compete against Ryan Thomas, Adele Roberts and Miles Nazaire for the trophy.
Ryan Thomas skated to victory and was crowned Dancing On Ice’s 2024 winner alongside pro partner Amani Fancy during Sunday’s action-packed live final.
