Greg Norman’s father Mervin dies aged 95

Greg Norman’s beloved father, Mervin, has passed away at the age of 95.

The golfer announced the news Wednesday morning in a heartbreaking Instagram post.

‘In life, we take things for granted, especially if you’ve had someone around for 95 years. If you lose that person, they are gone until you meet them again in a higher place,” he wrote.

“Daddy, you were always there for me, driving me to be who I am, giving me the genes, mind, heart, soul and strength to achieve things I never expected myself and few have ever achieved. I am you in every way.

“I know you’re in a better pain-free place now. From your beautiful wife of 72 years, your daughter Janis who was always there for you, Kiki who always loved every second she spent with you, to your grandchildren Morgan and Greg and great-grandchildren, to me, your son and all other relatives close and far away, we will miss you very much.

“You were our patriarch. We will meet again to fill you in with my final chapters of my life. I love you and miss you already RIP Dad

The Shark’s son, Greg Norman Jr, also posted a tribute to his grandfather.

‘Rest in peace Grandpa. You were a brilliant man. Strong if you were intelligent. You have given us a great foundation on how to live our lives. 95 years young. You will be very much missed. I love you GF,” he wrote.

“It is very difficult to live from our core family all over the planet. Years sometimes pass without seeing each other. Embrace your family. If you can, resolve your disagreements immediately. Spend time together. Learn from each other. You will never get that time back.
