Greg Lynn: Ex-Jetstar pilot faces unanswered questions over the death of his ex-wife Lisa

Former Jetstar pilot Greg Lynn may yet be forced to answer more uncomfortable questions about his ex-wife’s ‘suicide’.

Lisa Lynn was found dead in October 1999 after consuming a deadly cocktail of booze and sleeping tablets.

Now it can be revealed that detectives want the Victorian coroner to conduct a second investigation into the mother-of-two’s tragic death.

On Tuesday, a jury in Victoria’s Supreme Court acquitted Lynn of the murder of elderly camper Russell Hill, but found him guilty of the murder of Carol Clay.

Detectives tasked with capturing Lynn now believe there is enough new evidence in the Lisa Lynn case to warrant a new investigation.

It is understood police are talking to people who knew Lynn in the hope of learning more about the information he shared about his then-wife 20 years ago.

Lynn’s unusual personality has long been the subject of speculation in aviation circles Herald Sun reported.

The disgraced former pilot flew passenger jets for Qatar Airways in the Middle East for five years before joining Jetstar in 2007.

Lisa Lynn was found to have committed suicide, but her mother believes Greg Lynn drove her to it

Rumors have been circulating within the aviation industry for years about a woman who reportedly went missing in the desert at the same time as Lynn while in Qatar.

Her alleged disappearance was talked about by those who knew Lynn years before he was charged with killing the campers, the newspaper reported.

It’s a story that has likely piqued the interest of detectives who have not yet finished investigating the extent of Lynn’s criminality.

Lisa Lynn’s parents had previously told the coroner about their concerns about the then-pilot while he lived with their daughter in Mount Macedon, northwest of Melbourne.

Lisa was found in a fetal position at the front of the family’s home, while the couple’s two children, aged one and three, slept inside.

Victorian coroner Graeme Johnstone said Lisa was deeply depressed at the time of her death.

However, the coroner was left with outstanding questions about whether she intended to commit suicide or not.

Forensic doctors later revealed her blood alcohol level was as high as 0.2 – more than three times the legal limit for driving.

They also found traces of antidepressants in her system.

Lisa’s mother, who was due to travel from Tasmania to help her struggling daughter, made a disturbing statement to the coroner about Greg Lynn, including allegations of animal cruelty, violence and ‘bizarre’ behaviour.

“In addition to not receiving any support from Greg, he would regularly subject her to physical and mental abuse,” she told the coroner.

“These events happened too often to remember, especially things like losing his temper for no reason and blaming Lisa for everything that went wrong.

“Then he would scream, throw things at her and push her around. I felt very uncomfortable when these events were happening because I was reluctant to intervene and Lisa begged me not to intervene.”

Lisa’s mother told the coroner that her daughter told her that any interference from her at home would lead to further pain and misery.

“Greg’s behavior in general would be described as bizarre. I think he has a twisted mind,” she told the coroner.

‘He has killed animals and the neighbour’s pet before in the past. He also refused to feed the children when he had to babysit them. At one point he threw a tantrum when we were having dinner at the Macedon Hotel.’

Lisa’s mother told the court that Lynn verbally assaulted a man in the bar after he made the mistake of talking to Lisa.

He then became “enraged” with his then-wife after leaving the hotel, she told the coroner.

“The only thing I would like to add is that as far as I am concerned, Greg is responsible for the death of my daughter as a result of mental torture inflicted by him,” Lisa’s mother told the court.

“I know she lived in absolute fear of Greg. I accept from what (I have been told) regarding the circumstances in which she died that she was alone that night.

“Greg wasn’t there, but her actions were a culmination of the fear and terror she lived under.”

The court heard that Lisa had kept a detailed diary of her broken relationship with Lynn.

Lynn will appear in court at a future date for a pre-sentencing hearing on Clay’s murder.
