Greenacre crash: Watch the shocking moment a bus ploughs into the Sugar House dessert bar
Shocking CCTV footage has emerged of a bus crashing into a shop front, forcing shocked passers-by to free its occupants.
The driver of Metro Line 914 had turned left onto Waterloo Road in Greenacre in Sydney’s south-west shortly before 8am on Tuesday.
As he continued his sharp left turn, he lost control and veered onto the footpath, crashing into the popular Sugar House dessert bar.
Tradesmen and staff from nearby businesses rushed to free the driver and a female passenger by pulling on the door.

The impact shattered the bus’s windshield and severely damaged the exterior of the store.
The male bus driver, 45, was uninjured but in shock. He is being assisted by the police in their investigation.
He and a 37-year-old woman were the only people on board, witnesses said 9News.
The passenger, who had a bleeding nose, was taken to Bankstown Hospital for observation.
Sugar House was closed at the time of the crash.
“Normally that is a very busy sidewalk with pedestrians,” local Freddy Nagz wrote on Facebook.

Witness Siba Elturk said it was fortunate that no one was killed.
“Imagine if they were open this morning and people were sitting out the front having breakfast?” she said.
Sugar House took the full force of the impact, which shattered the front glass and toppled parts of the brick wall.
The work to repair the storefront could take days, with owners hoping it will be covered by insurance.
In the meantime, however, they will lose revenue because they cannot operate, which could cost them thousands of dollars.
The dessert bar will have to remain closed (pictured) while the broken glass and crumbling bricks are repaired, which could take some time.
