Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein ARRESTED for Participating in Anti-Israel Protest on University of Washington Campus

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, 73, was arrested Saturday at the University of Washington.

Stein and members of her campaign staff joined pro-Palestinian protests at the college in St. Louis, Missouri, as the 2024 candidate clashed with law enforcement.

Washington University students are among those participating in nationwide campus protests over their university’s ties to the war in Gaza.

Several videos posted to X this weekend show Stein participating in the demonstration.

In one clip, the politician is seen physically pushing back against police as he uses a bicycle to push protesters into a closed area.

The others arrested along with her team include campaign manager Jason Call and deputy campaign manager Kelly Merrill-Cayer.

Several colleges across the country are experiencing massive anti-Israel protests amid the ongoing war in Gaza. In concrete terms, pro-Palestinian students protest against their universities’ ties with Israel.

The most extreme protests are taking place at Columbia University in New York City, where hundreds of people set up an encampment on campus and enforced in-person classes. Columbia’s endowment includes investments in Microsoft and Amazon, both of which do business in Israel.

Before she was handcuffed, Stein made a video describing her actions.

“We stand here with the students of WashU, standing up for our constitutional rights, and standing up for the American people who want to end this genocide now,” she said in a selfie-style video.

“The police are gathered here,” she added, looking at an image of a full police force, “and we are going to line up here with the students.”

In the background of the video, you can hear the students chanting, “Hold the line.”

“Jill and others worked with police to de-escalate before they started arresting people,” a message from Stein’s X account claims:

Holding a megaphone in her hands but speaking without speaking, Stein told law enforcement officers, “We can avoid the embarrassment and humiliation that will befall this administration if it attacks peaceful protesters who are simply calling for peace and human rights and the end of the war. into a genocide that the American people abhor.”
