Packers fans are affectionately known as cheeseheads … but one supporter in Atlanta on Sunday might have gotten a little more than he bargained for.

Green Bay was at the Mercedes-Benz to take on the Falcons, and they headed into halftime with a lead over the home team.

As a fan decked out in Packers colors rejoiced in his team’s success, the Falcons mascot took matters into his own hands and threw a vat of cheese sauce right over his head.

The hilarious scenes were captured by FOX Sports’ live television cameras, with the moment tweeted alongside the caption: “It’s getting cheesy in Atlanta.”

Packers fans are known as cheeseheads because of the amount of cheese produced in the Wisconsin area.

Fans regularly watch matches with literal ‘cheeseheads’, leading to opposition fans hitting back with their own headgear.

On Sunday, a Falcons fan in Atlanta even made a giant cheese grater on his own head, seemingly in an attempt to prevent his team from getting one on their opponents.

In reality, however, it was the Packers who started the better of the two teams, going into halftime with a 10-9 lead after a rare extra point miss by kicker Younghoe Koo.

Early in the second half, the visiting team extended its lead to 17-9, thanks to a career-first touchdown from rookie Dontayvion Wicks.
