Seven people are rushed to hospital after a six-car crash on a major highway

A terror crash involving a truck and five cars led to the transport of seven people to hospital and the closure of one of Sydney’s main highways.
Emergency services responded to the crash site in Wentworth Falls on Great Western Highway in the Blue Mountains at 1:05 pm on Wednesday.
Several people became trapped in their cars, which occurred near Shortland Street, and had to wait to be released by NSW Fire and Rescue officers.
The Great Western Highway was closed by the salvage operation, meaning no one could cross the mountains via its main artery.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said there were “multiple injuries” among the injured, “all in serious condition”.
Emergency services responded to the scene of a collision in Wentworth Falls on the Great Western Highway in the Blue Mountains at 1:05pm on Wednesday.
Ten people were injured and were treated on the road by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
One person was rushed to Westmead Children’s Hospital and two went to Westmead Hospital.
The others went to Nepean and Liverpool hospitals.
An eastbound lane of the highway was reopened around 4:00 p.m., but westbound motorists were still unable to get past the scene of the crash.
Drivers have been warned to expect long delays in the area.
Investigators from the NSW Police Accident Unit are on scene examining the cause of the accident.
Two people in their 60s had to be airlifted to hospital from the scene of the accident. The man was taken to Liverpool hospital and the woman to Westmead.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said there were “multiple injuries” among the injured, “all in serious condition”.
The other five who required hospitalization were transported by road.
