Great Value Chicken Broth recalled from Walmart over ‘spoilage’ concerns

Walmart has recalled more than 12,000 cases of broth in nine states over concerns it could expire.

The retail giant has pulled Great Value Chicken Broth from shelves due to compromised packaging.

The product in question is sold in a total of 242 stores, Fox News reports.

The affected states are: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.

The reason for the recall is ‘possible packaging errors that could compromise the sterility of the product, resulting in spoilage.’

The broth had a best before date of March 2025. The cartons are printed with the UPC code ‘007874206684.’

There have been no reports yet that customers have become ill.

“The health and safety of our customers is always our top priority,” a Walmart spokesperson said.

“As soon as we became aware of the issue, we took action to remove all affected products from the selected affected stores. We will continue to work with the supplier to investigate this.”

Customers who believe they may have been affected should throw away the boxes and can receive a refund.
