The British Bake Off star is being poached by rivals ITV for a weekend cooking series – with a personal twist

Big British Bake Off star Prue Leith has been poached by Channel 4’s rival ITV for a brand new weekend cooking series.

The cook, 83, will be fronting Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen on ITV1 and ITVX in February 2024, in her own idyllic country house.

In the ten-part series, Prue treats viewers to an array of dishes, from easy-to-prepare weeknight meals to dinner-inspired dishes or even a simple dessert, which is always worth the calories.

In Prue’s own words, it becomes a “simply delicious romp” through a recipe folder she’s built up in the culinary world over the last 60 years, with a few tantalizing stories served up in Prue’s unique style.

Along the way, John will share some of his own gems of wisdom that he’s gathered over his years living in the countryside – everything from showing viewers how best to grow and harvest fruits and vegetables to how to get the perfect ‘wow factor’. to prepare a gin martini.

In each episode, Prue invites a special guest to her home kitchen to cook and share one of their own favorite recipes.

While enjoying the dish at the family table, they will “chew the fat” on everyday issues that may be particularly relevant to them.

Prue will also be starring a cast of incredible Food Heroes in the series; impressive entrepreneurs in the Cotswolds and across Britain who create delicious produce that she will showcase in a range of mouth-watering dishes for her and John to enjoy.

Of the series, Prue said, ‘All in all, Prue’s Cotswold Kitchen is about the things that are important to me in my life: family, friends, home, farm and food.

“And I’m such a selfish person, I look forward to sharing them all with the world.”

Meanwhile, ITV Entertainment’s Leanne Clark said: ‘I’m thrilled we’ve been invited to Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen for an ITV1 Daytime first!

Prue joined The Great British Bake Off in 2017 when the series moved from the BBC to Channel Four, with the new series airing later this year.

The new series will also see Alison Hammond take over as host alongside Noel Fielding after Matt Lucas left the show last year.

Prue previously shared her delight at Alison joining the lineup, hoping it will cut back on the boyish banter on the show.

She said The sun on Sunday: ‘I’m just glad there’s another woman because I’ll tell you what, those three men together, half the time I didn’t get the jokes because I never get innuendos.

“A word like sausage would startle them.”
