Great British Bake Off: Sixth contestant to leave the competition is announced as she screws up simple Technical challenge causing her time to be up

Dana became the sixth contestant to leave The Great British Bake Off during Botanical Week on Tuesday night.

The database administrator from Essex, 25, managed to reach the sixth week of the competition but was unfortunately eliminated after finishing in the bottom two of the technical challenge.

Despite its beautiful, breathtaking design, the flavors did not meet the standards of judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

The baker’s creativity was challenged with the daunting task of creating nature-inspired bakes, starting with a herb-filled Signature, followed by a spicy Technical and finishing with a floral dessert Showstopper.

The group was given four and a half hours to create an imaginative floral dessert, in any style, but it had to include a significant baked element.

On a positive note, Dana said, “I feel like I ruined week six, just trying to think of all the fun I’ve had these past six weeks.”

Josh received the incredible distinction of star baker with his impressive bakes in all three challenges.

Josh came second in the technical challenge and was delighted with his bake.

Elsewhere in the episode, Christine came first in the engineering class and made a ‘perfect’ lemon tart with lemon drizzle.

About the result, she said: ‘I really never thought I would become the first in technology.’

However, Tasha came in last in the challenge, making her Showstopper Challenge crucial for her to get a chance to stay in next week’s episode.

Speaking about her cake disaster, she said: ‘That was really bad, yeah, I can’t lie, I feel sick for tomorrow. I’m not ready to go home yet.”

But Tasha topped the cards with her ‘delicious’ showstopper, an incredible 10-tier cake.

Times up: Dana left on a positive note, saying: 'I feel like I've crushed week six, I'm just trying to think of all the fun I've had in the last six weeks'

Amos, 43, was the first to leave the Bake Off, while Keith, 60, was the second to leave the tent during last week’s week two episode.

Last week’s episode saw two bakers leave the tent, while Nicky and Rowan were the fourth and fifth to leave the series in a double elimination.

Yorkshire-born Abbi first learned to bake with her mother and honed those early skills during her teenage years, when she became fascinated with the Victorian era and especially the traditional bakes of the time: steamed puddings, fruitcakes and more.

Now she draws her inspiration from her surroundings and the beautiful English countryside surrounding her home.

She loves the outdoors and looks for seasonal ingredients – the bigger and bolder the better – and makes good use of her home-grown vegetables.

The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 on Tuesday at 8pm.
