Great British Bake Off final: Syabira Yusoff crowned the WINNER after beating Abdul and Sandro

Syabira Yusoff was crowned the winner of the 2022 Great British Bake Off series on Tuesday evening.

The baker, 32, beat stiff competition from Abdul Rehman Sharif, 29, and Sandro Farmhouse, 30, in what proved to be a very tricky final for the trio – especially the technical challenge.

After presenter Matt Lucus called her name, a delighted Syabira said her victory was the “greatest achievement of my life.”

Judge Paul Hollywood praised Syabira after her win, saying, “Some of the flavors we’ve never had in the place before and probably won’t get again, she’s an incredible baker.”

While Prue Leith shared, “She’s creative and she’s careful, she practices like everything, and she’s imaginative, she just has a lot.” She is a very skilled baker.’

Meanwhile, Noel told the cardiovascular research associate that he had “never seen a baker like you.”

After her win, Syabira commented, “I can’t believe it, honestly, it hasn’t sunk in yet. All the hard work, all the trial and error, it’s all been worth it.”

She also commented that she has grown in confidence and learned to trust her instincts, before stating that she was glad she won, as a woman hasn’t won in a while.

She added, “I believe there’s only one way to know if you can do it, just do it!” I will also try to never be shy again and know that hard work always pays off.”

Fans watched the result and shared on Twitter how happy they were with Syabira’s victory.

“Winning a bake-off by Syabira is more exciting than submitting my ucas,” one person commented.

While another commented, “Congratulations to Syabira. My favorite from the start with its unusual flavours.’

Syabira has been my favorite from day one. I’m so glad she won,” said a third viewer.

The final proved to be very tricky for three bakers as they struggled in all three rounds, especially the technical challenge.

After being tasked with making a summer pudding bomb, the bakers were baffled by the recipe, with two of them presenting collapsed heaps of bread, mousse and unsteady jelly.

Abdul almost surpassed the win, but Paul urged the others not to clap as he didn’t feel like any of them were trying.

The showstopper saw the trio tasked with creating an edible sculpture, with Syabira creating a huge orangutan that held up its rainforest home.

Her ambitious creation consisted of layers of tarragon shortbread and a Genoese sponge flavored with black pepper and sandwiched with blackberry jam.

Paul said of her baking, “The orangutan is smart. I think you could have done a little more work on the face… It’s not the prettiest thing I’ve seen, but it still tastes great.’

While Prue called it “a rather strange construction.”

It comes after Great British Bake Off fans were ‘gutted’ during the grand finale because host Noel Fielding was missing from the start of the episode.

At the start of the show, his co-host Matt Lucas announced that Noel would not be performing on the first day of the finals because he was ill.

But commenting on the news, viewers shared that they were impressed by his absence, with one even stating, “Why am I even watching this?”

On Twitter, one person commented, “Omg – where’s Noel… He’s making the show.”

While another shared, “Okay, the baking has been bad enough this year without Noel not presenting the finale now.”

“Stunned that Noel is missing the final!” declared a third guard.

‘No Noel?? Can’t take it!!!’ said a devastated fourth fan.

One fifth smoked; No Noel in the #GBBO final?! Why am I even watching this??’

With another addition: ‘ Bake off final without Noel???? I might as well call off the whole thing.”

Noel’s absence comes after Syabira asked him to “stay away” last week, with some fans noting that the comedian may have taken her request literally.

However, later in the episode, Noel later returned for the showstopper challenges, which were filmed the following day.

The star joined Matt and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith for a debriefing about the previous day, where they told him about the less-than-impressive technical bakes.

Noel was then on hand to present the final round of the competition with Matt, where the bakers were tasked with creating an elaborate edible sculpture.
