Bronny James stepped onto the court for the first time in his college basketball career on Sunday, a remarkable comeback considering how close he came to tragedy earlier this year.

James was practicing with the Trojans in July when he went into cardiac arrest due to a congenital heart defect.

After months of recovery, rehab and getting back into basketball shape, he checked into the game to the cheers of everyone watching, including his father, LeBron James.

After the game, Bronny addressed the media and thanked everyone involved in his journey.

“I just want to say I'm grateful for everything,” said Bronny – with coach Andy Enfield by his side.

After the match, Bronny was grateful and thanked everyone involved in his journey

“Mayo Clinic, everything they helped me with. My parents, brothers and sisters who supported me through this difficult time in my life.

“I just want to express my appreciation to everyone who has helped me get through this – including my coach, my teammates and all my other coaches who have been with me from the beginning. I just want to say I'm grateful for them.”

Bronny posted a stat line of 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block in 16 minutes of action while shooting 1-for-3 from the field – all shots coming from beyond the arc.

Unfortunately for him, the Trojans fell to Long Beach State in overtime, winning 84-79.

The Trojans fell to 5-4 on the season. They play at Auburn next Sunday.
