Three homes were destroyed by fire and one man was taken to hospital with serious burns to his leg and face.
The fire broke out shortly after 2pm on Saturday afternoon on Evelyn Street in Grange, in Brisbane’s north.
Three houses were completely destroyed by fire, while a fourth house suffered extensive damage.
Ten fire crews were called to the scene and the Queensland Fire Service said the fire was now under control after spreading to several homes.
“There is still heavy smoke in the area and it will remain that way throughout the evening,” a QFES spokesperson said. Emergency services will remain on site until Friday evening.
‘Residents should close windows and doors and keep respiratory medication at hand.’
According to Douglas May, Acting Chief Inspector of QFES, the fire is believed to have been caused by a fuel leak. Courier post reported.
“According to reports, a man was filling up his car with fuel and some of the fuel spilled, causing the car to catch fire,” the man said.
