An 84-year-old veteran has been left heartbroken after claiming he encountered his girlfriend in bed with a handyman.
Charles Sarno’s granddaughter Anisa Kistler, 28, took to social media to ‘gramps’ find a new woman after the incident – and has since received almost 100 date requests.
Anisa put out a call on Facebook for a ‘nice lady’ for her grandfather, who has been in the shop window since 2011, and came up with the hashtag ‘help grandpa find a girlfriend’ in a post that quickly went viral.
The Georgia-based saleswoman says she’s had a wave of direct messages from “a dating pool of women” showing interest in Charles and even had people putting forward their mothers and grandmothers.

Charles said he paid the handyman to fix his ex’s house and assumed the man would “work on the plumbing” – but when he found them in bed together it was “like a knife through the heart.” ‘
He hadn’t seen her in a week and happened to pass by her house.
Charles was renovating her house for her so that “she could rent it out and generate some income.”
When he arrived, he saw the handyman’s car parked in the backyard.
The door to the house was open and he assumed he was at work.
However, when he entered, he “found them in bed.”
“She’s with him and I’m paying this man to fix the house,” he said.
‘It killed me. It was like a knife in my heart being torn apart. My heart was broken. We were supposed to get married next month.’

Anisa remembered her grandfather’s first heartbreak after her grandmother’s death in 2011, and he became lonely.
Despite her grandpa finding love again, Anisa admitted she was never a big fan of his new wife, believing she wasn’t with him for the right reasons.
‘I told him I was going to help him find a nice lady. I [made the post] because I was angry about the situation,” she said.
‘He is heartbroken and very angry about it.
‘That’s why I started looking for someone else, because there are really nice women.
‘You’re not too old and you can still find someone who wants to be with you and you can both love each other. You just have to look for the right kind of person.
‘I would like him to be with someone who is nice and who wants to be with him because he likes him.
“Anyone who makes him happy, but for the right reasons, would make me happy.”

In a post that racked up more than 600 comments, 565 shares and 270 reactions, Anisa wrote: “Now taking applications from your grandma to date my grandpa!
‘He’s lonely, the “lady” he’s been dating on and off for two years has been cheating on him and using him for years and better avoid me if she has any sense.
‘He has a heart of gold. He’s a veteran, he’s kind, he’s stable and he just wants to be with someone who’s a good person.
‘He’s active and loves to travel and do things, so it’s important that whoever he’s with loves to get out and explore!’
One Facebook user replied, “I’m nominating my Grammy! She is very nice and loves motorcycles!’
Another said: ‘He is such a handsome man… I really hope you find him someone who deserves to be loved by him and who will love him just as much.’
“I love this… keep updating the post so we know when he finds his person,” a third person wrote.
A final one added: “Bless it. He’s a sweetheart! I hope he finds love again!’
Anisa says her grandfather has spoken to four women on the phone since she posted and has even made plans to meet two of them for coffee, along with his dog Jumper.
The mother-of-four describes the older singleton as sweet, loving and gentle, saying he loves cars and being active, and says he was moved to tears by the outpouring of kind messages on her post.
“I got a little overwhelmed because I had a dating pool of women in my inbox. I didn’t know which one he would like.
‘I talked to as many people as possible. I gave them a way to communicate with my grandfather, as long as they seemed nice.
“There were some ladies who just looked so sweet and outgoing. I thought I would love it [them] to be my grandmother.
“He got very emotional and he was upset that day and just very down. I was very worried about him.
“I said, ‘Grandpa, all these people love you.’ I read him everything and showed him all the messages and how many people cared about him.
‘He burst out crying. It reminded him that he is loved and that people care about him because he felt very lonely.
“It felt good to hear the responses, like someone cared. They say this is the only way. Love can break a heart and love can mend it,” Charles said
“It might have made his head a little bigger.”

‘I do not want [a lady] who is ready for the nursing home. It goes well. Everything works and I have wants and needs. I’m not dead.
