Grand Designs star Kevin McCloud, 63, ties the knot with businesswoman Jenny Jones

Grand Designs star Kevin McCloud has married his partner Jenny Jones discreetly, it was revealed by one of his friends.

The TV presenter, 63, and the businesswoman became romantically entangled last year – nearly five years after he left his ex-wife.

One of Kevin’s friends confirmed the secret wedding, telling the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden: “They just got back from their honeymoon.”

Kevin, who played in his youth with a career as a classical singer – studying for a year at the Florence Conservatory – refrains from comment.

It comes four years after McCloud left his wife of 23 years – interior designer Suzanna McCloud, known as Zani, with whom he has a son and daughter.

McCloud, who also has two other children from previous relationships, suddenly left the marital home four years ago.

One of his wife’s friends told the Daily Mail at the time: ‘Zani is absolutely devastated. One day she came home to find that Kevin had packed his things and left.”

The TV star, who has spent the past 20 years charting the highs and lows of building your own home, had shared a 500-year-old farmhouse with Suzanna near Bruton in Somerset.

The couple sold their previous listed home to Fifty Shades Of Gray director Sam Taylor-Johnson in 2010 for £1.85 million.

McCloud studied art and architecture at Cambridge University, where he was a member of the comedy revue Footlights with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.

He has previously said that he is a difficult person to live with. “I’m terribly picky,” he said.

“I like symmetry and tidiness, but my house is just as chaotic as any other family’s.”

Before entering university, he trained as an opera singer in Italy.

After graduating from Cambridge, he trained as a theater designer before setting up his own lighting design firm – and at one point his company employed 26 people.

His first TV appearance was a guest appearance in 1998 on BBC2’s makeover show Home Front In The Garden.
