Graeme Souness has announced he will be leaving Sky Sports after serving as a pundit on the network for over a decade.
The former Scotland international announced on Sunday evening during the live broadcast of Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur that he would be resigning.
Souness joined Sky 15 years ago and was given an emotional farewell by his colleagues after Kelly Cates confirmed he had taken part in his last broadcast.
“I’m going to miss you guys behind the scenes, our makeup girl, I’m going to miss you all,” Souness said on the air. “You know, for me, I decided that football management wasn’t for me anymore. I had the wrong temperament for it, the wrong personality.
“And then I got the chance to do this and it was amazing. It’s just been the most amazing time for me because I love football, I care about football and I worry about the future.

“But in Sky’s hands it’s in good hands, safe hands, and I think over the years we’ve created a Premier League with great detail and I think we’re taking good care of the football,” he continued.
“But for me personally, I have the buzz of live football coming to some great games and some great stadiums and some great events. I think I owe people 100 apologies, but we don’t have time for that.
“I think people at home don’t always agree with us, of course, but they’ve been really great guys. “But it was great, so thanks to everyone.”
Souness left Sky by mutual consent as his contract with the broadcasters expired at the end of the season.

“The insight and winning mentality he brought to our viewers as a result of his years of experience as both a player and a manager has been invaluable to our coverage. We wish him all the best for the future.’
