Grace Hyland: Transgender influencer and OnlyFans star calls out Channel 7 for implying she regrets transitioning

A transgender influencer and OnlyFans star claims Channel 7 “twisted” her words, implying she regrets transitioning.

A photo of Grace Hyland is among those featured in a promotional video for Sunday night’s Spotlight show that examines “thousands” of young people who regret moving from male to female or female to male have switched.

said the promo’s voiceover “Children are told to change from boy to girl, or girl to boy, from the age of 12,” as depicted in the photos of children before and after their transition.

Ms Hyland, 20, used her TikTok account to condemn Channel 7 for giving the impression that she now regretted changing her gender.

“I transitioned at age 13 and I don’t regret it at all,” adding that she had a breast augmentation two days earlier.

“Gender-affirming healthcare in Australia needs more funding, this negativity is unnecessary,” she said.

“And even though my face is in this, I don’t agree, I don’t stand for this story, I don’t stand for the sensationalism of this whole thing. Don’t let Channel 7 twist.’

She wondered if her before and after photos had been chosen by Spotlight because her father, Mat Stevenson, starred in the Channel 7 show Home and Away.

‘Is it because my dad used to be on Home and Away on Channel 7? Is it because I’m a public figure? Is it because I have publicly defended the transition of children?’ she said.

“I mean, why would you choose my face?” My pictures? It does not make any sense.’

Ms. Hyland began documenting her transition from male to female on social media since she began identifying as a girl at the age of twelve.

Stevenson, who became a household name when he played the role of Adam Cameron in Home and Away, was very supportive of her.

He discussed her transition on The Sunday Project in January 2021 and revealed how his friends reacted when they learned about his child’s gender identity.

He said that while some of his friends were “pretty seamless” and “got it,” others struggled and he asked them to simply “show some empathy.”

Ms Hyland said she knew as early as the age of ‘four or five’ that she was meant to be a woman.

She consulted doctors, psychologists and experts in the field for a year before starting any physical treatment.

“I came out when I was 12 and then I went through a gradual transition until I was 14, to grow my hair, to get my name change sorted out, to clear my blocks,” she said.

“And by the time I was 14, I was fully presenting myself as Grace to the public and at school.”

She said that without her father’s support, she wouldn’t be where she is today.

Stevenson also highlighted the suicide rate among transgender teens, saying he didn’t want his daughter to “become one of those statistics.”

Following Ms Hyland’s complaint, Channel 7 updated the promo and removed her photos.
