GP, 55, denies giving woman cups of coffee containing his own semen

A Somerset doctor who denies putting his sperm in a cup of coffee he made for a female acquaintance believes it was done as a joke by someone else at his expense, a jury heard yesterday.

Dr. Chapman told Gloucester Crown Court that he had suffered from a condition since the age of 16 that caused him to involuntarily “loose” from his penis while defecating.

On how the substance ended up in the cup of coffee, he added, “When I tried to put the information together, the only scenario that made sense to me was that it was a prank played by someone, and it wasn’t me.” , what went wrong.’

Dr. Chapman, of Taunton, has pleaded not guilty to two charges of attempting to engage a woman in sexual activity without her consent between September 12, 2020 and September 12, 2021.

He said: ‘It started in the early 1980s when I went to the toilet and it was something my mother noticed.

“I’ve been able to keep this condition a secret from everyone.”

He told the court that the reason for having semen in the jars was to test it and that he had been collecting them since 2013 when he was told he left smears on the toilet seat.

He added: “The purpose of collecting substances in a tube was to avoid smearing on the toilet seat and on the inside of a bowl.”

He told the jury he would only do this when he was defecating at work, which he would do “almost daily.”

He acknowledged that there were at least ten to twelve “collections” a month and 140 collections a year that he didn’t flush down the toilet.

Chapman, too, described masturbation – including at work – as “nothing to do with pleasure – but a painful necessity.”

“I’m a very private person, especially when it comes to personal issues like this,” he told the jury from the witness stand.

“The stool drops are a clear, proteinaceous substance.

“Both ejaculate and feces were placed in jars for different reasons. The stool fluid was for cleanliness and the ejaculate for testing.

‘I only started pooping in a bottle when my partner made a comment in 2013 that I had left a mess on the toilet seat. Until then I had removed the excess from the toilet seat with a tissue.

‘Sometimes I would wash my penis in the sink while removing the remains of the feces. Occasionally my handwashing regimen wasn’t up to the mark, but I would never be left with globules on my hand, just smears.

“To me, the two liquids looked different. The stool fluid had a smaller volume and was occasionally darker or yellow in color. I didn’t connect it as the same as ejaculate.

“I’ve never put this liquid in anyone’s coffee cup.

“I agree that testing my fluids with a urine dipstick isn’t common, but it works because testing doesn’t have to be just urine. Sperm testing may seem unorthodox, but the NICE guidelines for my condition suggest testing.

“I know that prostatitis is a rare condition and I have not had any other patient present with the same symptoms.”

The victim, whose name cannot be disclosed for legal reasons, was shocked to discover a “globule-like” substance at the bottom of her cup when she drank a hot drink given to her by the defendant, the court heard.

After finding suspicious “specimens,” she reported him to the police, and a lab test later confirmed the substance was the doctor’s semen.

The GP was arrested when he showed up for work and suspended from his post at a health center in Somerset when the allegations came to light.

Prosecutors argued that by adding semen to coffee, he had attempted to engage her in some form of sexual activity — by making her “take his semen.”

Prosecutor Richard Posner said, “She took a sip of her drink and spit it out in the sink … it didn’t taste right. It tasted salty. She dumped the rest into the sink and saw a thick, bulging substance disappear into the sink.

“She just knew it was something that shouldn’t have been there. She didn’t think for a second it could be sperm.’

She believes it happened another six or seven times, but her suspicions arose in September 2021, when she noticed a plastic copy in his possession that was “not to be found there.”

The woman shared her concerns and “realized the reality” of what had happened, Mr. Posner told the court.

Samples were put in the freezer and later given to the police.

Analysis of the coffee brewed on September 13, 2021, found that semen and DNA were a match for the defendant.

He was arrested by the police at his practice when he arrived at work.

The two allegations are that on September 13, 2021 and between September 12, 2020 and September 12, 2021, he attempted to engage in unauthorized sexual activity by making her swallow his semen.

Dr. Chapman was born in South Africa, where he graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Cape Town in 1993.

When asked about his social life, Dr Chapman said: ‘I enjoy small talk with most people and this could be described as flirting when I talk to a woman.

“I felt like I had a good relationship with this particular woman because I had supported her before. We had discussed personal issues together, especially when I told her that my genitals were incompatible with my partner. She suggested trying a few different positions during sex.’

Today, June 13, Dr. Chapman will sit on the witness stand for the third day to give his testimony as he will be further questioned.

The process continues.
