A beautiful Gilded Age mansion, complete with its own ballroom, pool and guesthouse, has been put on the market for $5.5 million.

The beautiful 135-year-old mansion with breathtaking views of the lush Oregon countryside and sweeping views of downtown Portland was once owned by the Pittock family who invested in real estate, banks, railroads, steamboats, sheep farming, silver mines and the newspaper industry .

The house was first built by lawyer and real estate investor J. Carroll McCaffrey in 1887, but subsequently by Henry Pittock, the former publisher of The Oregonian owned the house starting in 1917. The beautiful home remained in the Pittock family until 1970.

However, at one point, Megan Markle’s great-great-grandfather, George B. Markle, owned the mansion.
