Gordon Ramsay hits back at critics who slammed his Aussie Wagyu burger for using too much butter

Gordon Ramsay’s sizzling response to critics calling his burger “nasty” for using a “heart attack-inducing” amount of butter

Gordon Ramsay has responded in typical fashion to claims he used a “heart attack-inducing” amount of butter in an Australian Wagyu burger recipe he shared on Instagram.

The British celebrity chef posted a video of him making the dish and was quickly roasted for using butter not only to fry the onions, but also to toast the bread and grill the fatty meats.

“Do we really need five kilos of butter?” one person commented on the video.

“I don’t think you used enough butter,” another wrote sarcastically while a third added, “Do we need that amount of butter?”

Although Gordon had not seen the critical comments about his creation, he reacted bluntly when presented to him by Daily Mail Australia.

“I’d like to take this moment to apologize for absolutely everything,” Ramsay said.

The 56-year-old had just completed a three-day stay at his Gordon Ramsay restaurant in Matt Moran’s fine diner Aria on Sydney Harbour.

He flew home Thursday night after presenting a $495 per person menu in what was the first time he had set up his restaurant abroad.

Gordon told Daily Mail Australia that he had been so busy with his Aria project that he hadn’t seen the reaction to his burger making technique.

“On the way home on that flight tonight, I’m starting to cry,” he said Thursday, while Moran chimed in with his good friend’s cooking method, adding, “Butter flavor.”

Gordon’s wagyu burger wasn’t on the menu during his tenure at Aria, but it got almost as much attention as his famous shellfish raviolo and pecan praline dessert.

“So much butter…I know fat means flavor, but this is butter overkill for me,” one person wrote.

“I just had a heart attack when I saw that,” another person joked. “Possibly the nastiest thing I’ve seen,” one of them remarked.

To make his Australian Wagyu burger, Gordon started by frying onion in oil and butter.

He then put salt and pepper on his meat patty before cooking it in more butter.

How to make Gordon Ramsay’s ‘dirty’ burger recipe

1. Fry the onion in oil and butter

2. Season the meat patty with salt and pepper before frying it in butter and oil in a frying pan

3. Pour boiling water over chopped cucumber and chili in a separate bowl

4. Brown the burger buns in a frying pan with butter

5. Return meat patty to skillet and top with onion and cheese to melt

6. Make a burger by placing lettuce, cucumber/chili mix and patty on the bun. Then top with fried egg and sauce

Gordon also poured boiling water over chopped cucumber and chilli in a separate bowl.

He then added more butter to his frying pan before browning the burger buns.

The chef finally put together his burger and added cheese, a fried egg and lettuce.

The defense of his “dirty” recipe comes just days after Ramsay burst into tears during a special episode of The Sunday Project, a tribute to the late Masterchef judge Jock Zonfrillo.

Ramsay, Nigella Lawson and Marco Pierre White were among those who shared their fond memories during the emotional episode.

“The ripples have been devastating. No one gets over this quickly. If there’s one thing we’ve done as chefs, it’s united and talked about the good times. So…” Ramsay said, pausing as he forced back the tears.

‘S**t. Sorry. It’s just so painful. That’s all,’ he added, taking a moment to calm down.

The chef passed away at age 46, leaving behind his third wife, Lauren Fried, and his four children: adult daughters Ava and Sophia, from his first two marriages, and six-year-old Alfie and two-year-old. Isla, with fried.
