GOP senator says the IRS was excluded from a 2020 briefing on alleged $10M Biden bribery scheme

Senator Chuck Grassley says IRS agents were purposely left out of a 2020 briefing to Hunter Biden’s prosecutor about an alleged $10 million “criminal bribery scheme” between Joe, Hunter and a foreigner.

According to a letter obtained by DailyMail.com that Grassley sent to Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss — who is prosecuting Hunter Biden for federal gun and tax crimes — the senator claims the Hunter investigation was obstructed by one of his top prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley. Wolf.

Grassley says that according to IRS whistleblowers, Wolf “stopped detectives from seeking information about Joe Biden’s involvement in Hunter Biden’s criminal business schemes.”

The senator is referring to a meeting on Oct. 23, 2020, in which he says the Justice Department and FBI officials at the Pittsburgh Field Office briefed Wolf and agents at the Baltimore Field Office “regarding the contents of the FBI-generated FD1023 alleging criminal bribery. scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden with no IRS agents present.

Republicans are investigating two alleged $5 million “bribery” payments from a foreigner to both Joe and Hunter, detailed in an FD-1023 form

According to a ‘highly credible’ whistleblower, an internal FBI FD-1023 memo was prepared in 2020 based on information from a highly paid informant would say then-Vice President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden each received $5 million in “bribes” from a Ukrainian foreigner in exchange for policy decisions. The National, a director of Burisma, also reportedly has phone recordings of Joe and Hunter that he kept as an “insurance policy.”

“However, no IRS agents were at the meeting,” Grassley added in the July 9 letter.

The senator writes that “in light of AUSA Wolf’s allegedly questionable and obstructive behavior in the course of your investigation,” he seeks “clarification” from Weiss regarding the whistleblower allegations.

Hunter Biden agreed to a plea deal with Weiss last month, pleading guilty to two felony tax charges and entering probation on a gun charge.

However, two IRS whistleblowers — including 14-year-old Agent Gary Shapley — reported to the House Ways and Means Committee last month alleging that top Justice Department officials, including Attorney General Merrick Garland, were interfering with the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden.

Shapley, who helped oversee the investigation into the president’s son, claims Hunter Biden has received preferential treatment from investigators investigating his tax affairs and lying about a gun license application.

Shapley pointed to a WhatsApp message sent by Hunter to Chinese Communist Party official Henry Zhao on July 30, 2017, threatening him to follow his “orders” and saying his father was with him. Shapley claims he raised concerns about the WhatsApp message to DOJ prosecutors, who dismissed his concerns.

Shapley also described an October 7, 2022 meeting with top IRS and FBI officials regarding the investigation of President Joe Biden’s son.

“I was there and I personally witnessed it,” Shapley said during a Fox News interview, noting that Weiss began by saying “he’s not the one who decides whether or not to press charges.”

Senator Chuck Grassley says IRS agents were purposely left out of a 2020 briefing to Hunter Biden’s prosecutor about an alleged $10 million “criminal bribery scheme” between Joe, Hunter and a foreigner.

Shapley claimed the final decision was made by officials in Washington, DC. He noted that in March 2022, Weiss met with Matthew Graves, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia who was appointed by President Joe Biden.

“After that happened, he was no longer looking to attack,” Shapley said.

“I didn’t learn that fact until October 7, 2022, so looking back to March 2022. And then David Weiss said on October 7, 2022 that the DCUS law firm will not allow us there,” Shapley responded.

Garland has denied interfering in the Hunter Biden investigation and insists Weiss has full authority on the matter.

“I don’t know how it would be possible for anyone to stop him from prosecuting,” Garland said of Weiss.

“As I said at the outset, Mr. Weiss was appointed by President Trump as the U.S. attorney in Delaware and assigned this case during the previous administration.”

Garland said Weiss would be allowed to continue his investigation and make a decision to prosecute any way he wants and in any district he wants. Mr Weiss has since sent a letter to the House Judiciary confirming that he had that authority.

“I don’t know how it would be possible for someone to dissuade him from prosecuting, given that he has this authority,” he said.

Senator Bill Hagerty has questioned possible “political interference” by Garland and Weiss based on their contradictory statements.

Weiss stated that his prosecution jurisdiction in the Hunter criminal case is limited to his home district of Delawarecontradicting Garland’s multiple public assurances that he can press charges in any district and have full control of the case without influence from DOJ leadership.

Hagerty, R-Tenn., told DailyMail.com in a statement Friday that the contradictions in statements by the top officials involved in the Hunter investigation reek of “political interference.”
