Google’s Gemini AI will try to help build better online ads
Google has announced plans to use its Gemini AI platform to revolutionize online advertising for businesses.
This move is an important step towards using generative AI to improve the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of advertising, and promises to deliver a much more streamlined creation process.
After testing Gemini-powered ads, the company has now done just that announced the launch of the new Google Ads conversation experience for UK and US customers, effective immediately.
Google is going big with AI-powered advertising
The company hopes its customers can create better search campaigns by using more natural, conversation-based chat input. The workflow is designed to be intuitive, fast and effortless, just like the announcement summarizes:
“All you need to get started is your website URL. Google AI helps you create optimized search campaigns by generating relevant ad content, including creatives and keywords.”
According to Google’s internal data, small business advertisers who use the conversational experience in Google Ads are 42% more likely to publish Search Network campaigns with “good” or “excellent” ad strength, resulting in more conversions.
The tool will be rolled out to more English-speaking customers in the coming weeks, and to other languages in the coming months.
To promote transparency, Google has implemented invisible watermarking technology, powered by SynthID, to identify generative AI-generated images. Image metadata will also confirm their AI origins.
Google’s use of artificial intelligence in its advertising activities, undoubtedly a tool with enormous potential for its customers, has been questioned in recent weeks. There was speculation that one round of layoffs in the company was the result of increased efficiency, thanks to AI.
Earlier this month it was noted that “a few hundred” jobs were at stake, although Google told us this was just part of the normal hiring and firing process.
