Google Meet wants to make you look even better for those big calls

Google just added a new filter to its videoconferencing platform so you can look flawless during all your meetings.

The company said in a announcement: “Whether you’re just back from the gym, recovering from a cold, or have jet lag, portrait retouching is available to help you feel your best.”

There are two levels of customization available through Google Meet’s green room on mobile devices before you even have a call.

Google said the addition of new retouching tools has been highly requested by users, and by enabling the new feature, it hopes employees will feel “more comfortable and confident” with their on-screen appearance.

Users can choose from a few touch-up levels: ‘subtle’ and a stronger ‘smoother’. Both adjust your complexion, under-eye lightening and eye whitening. Callers can also go natural and turn off the feature completely.

Business Standard/Plus, Enterprise Essentials/Starter/Standard/Plus, Education Plus, Teaching & Learning Upgrade, Google One and Google Workspace Individual customers will all get the feature, but personal Google account holders will have to make do without the feature .

The rollout has already started, but it may take until mid-November before some users see the change in their mobile apps.

The company has also committed to adding the feature to browser sessions as well, but we’ll probably have to wait a few weeks for this. Google said it hopes to have this ready for us by the end of 2023.

Also in an effort to increase the quality of your video calls, Google has recently added support for Full HD 1080p streaming to the platform.
