Google has announced its latest multi-billion dollar effort to boost connectivity and prepare for greater adoption of cloud and high-performance computing.
A $2 billion investment is planned to fund two new data center campuses in South Carolina, which will strengthen the company’s U.S. infrastructure.
The two campuses, located at 1055 Research Center Drive in Ridgeville and in Winding Woods Commerce Park in St. George, Dorchester County, will span 230 and 206 acres, respectively, and are expected to generate 200 operational positions and as many as 1,200 jobs . long-term construction work.
Google continues to invest in data centers
In addition to the investment in Dorchester County, Google has also committed another $1.3 billion to expand its data center in Berkeley County, which has been operational since 2007. The move marks an expansion of the company’s existing commitment to the state, where it has already invested heavily. over the years.

In addition to strengthening onshore infrastructure, the company has also invested heavily in submarine cables. The company has significantly expanded its submarine cable infrastructure in recent years new line between Australia and Africa earlier this year.
