Google’s Performance Max gets a Gemini AI boost
With this update, Performance Max gains the reasoning capabilities of Gemini, allowing it to generate longer headlines. Sitelink generation will also be part of a later update.
By upgrading its image generation models to Imagen 2, Google will also enable customers to generate lifestyle images that show people in action.
According to the company, advertisers who use asset generation in Performance Max campaigns are 63% more likely to achieve ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’ ad strength.
Looking ahead, Google has outlined three separate steps advertisers can take to maximize results, starting with increasing the variety of images, including AI-generated assets recommended by Google and modified versions of existing imagery.
Advertisers are also advised to add videos, either by uploading their own videos or using AI-generated content.
Finally, Google will be working with other platforms to make publishing images in a Performance Max campaign easier, starting with a Canva integration coming soon.
For advertisers, these new features will ultimately provide more opportunities to target audiences and achieve better campaign results.
