Google Drive is making it faster to share files with the people you talk to most

Google makes it even easier for you to share files with colleagues, according to a message on the company blogging (opens in new tab)with new suggested contacts available starting today directly from the share sheet.

In an effort to improve productivity and collaboration, Google Workspace has added a new row of suggested contacts below the field you usually use to type a contact’s name or email address. These rows change dynamically depending on who you share with the most.

The company has already started rolling out the update, although it may take up to two weeks for some users to see the changes. And that’s if they even can, because only Workspace and Legacy G Suite accounts get the new suggestion bar. Personal accounts will do without the change (at least for now).

In addition to this update, Google has been busy updating its stock sheet in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, Google added the option to control the sharing expiration the moment a file is shared. Previously, users had to share a file and then re-enter the share to change permissions. Now that it’s rolled out (to select Workspace business customers), employees can set permissions more flexibly.

Google isn’t the only company making changes to how users share their files. Last month, Tech Radar Pro reported that Microsoft may also adjust its process.
