Google co-founder Sergey Brin finalizes divorce from wife Nicole Shanahan who denied she had an affair with his friend Elon Musk: Couple will share custody of their four-year-old daughter

Google co-founder Sergey Brin has finalized his divorce from wife Nicole Shanahan after she denied having an affair with his friend Elon Musk.

New documents show the couple’s divorce is now official after being signed by the court. Page six reports.

They will share joint legal and physical custody of their four-year-old daughter Echo and she will receive child support, but the details of the payments have not been disclosed. The couple also had a prenuptial agreement.

Brin filed for divorce from his wife of four years in January 2022, citing “irreconcilable differences” in court papers, which stated the couple had been separated since December 2021.

In July, Shanahan revealed she was in a new relationship with Lightning Labs Vice President Jacob Strumwasser after the pair met at Burning Man.

The seventh richest man in the world, who is worth $93 billion, secretly married Shanahan in November 2018.

Brin and Shanahan planned to keep the details of their divorce hidden from the public, saying the tech mogul’s status as “one of the richest and most famous tech entrepreneurs in the world” was behind the need for privacy.

Shanahan did not contest the divorce at the time.

All financial matters have been kept confidential, but it was initially reported that Brin Shanahan did not ask for spousal support and requested that she not receive it from him in the future. However, Shanahan did ask for spousal support.

She received β€œnon-guideline” child support, but the amount is sealed.

Their divorce was rumored to be related to claims that Shanahan had an affair with Musk at Art Basel, a multi-day art event in Miami, in December 2021, but both strongly denied the allegations.

β€œThis is total bs,” Musk tweeted in response to the claims. ‘Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night.

β€œI’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with a lot of other people around,” he continued. ‘Nothing romantic.’

Art Basel took place in Miami last year between December 2 and 4, 2021.

According to the Journal’s sources, Shanahan and Brin were already having marital problems due to the stress of COVID-19.

Editors there have refused to retract it, saying they stand by their claims that reportedly brought an abrupt end to Musk and Brin’s longstanding friendship.

Shanahan later opened up about how the allegations of an affair rocked her.

β€œMy career is based on academic and intellectual credibility, and I was internationally shamed for being an imposter,” she said.

‘Being known for a sexual act is one of the most humiliating things. . . it was completely debilitating.”

About the alleged affair, she said, β€œDid Elon and I have sex, like it was a moment of passion, and then it was over? No.

‘Did we have a romantic relationship? No. We weren’t having an affair.’

Instead, she claims she and Musk had a deep, meaningful conversation about her daughter’s autism.

According to Shanahan, they talked about, β€œHow I would feel about helping my daughter with her autism treatment, given his background at Neuralink.

‘It was a very meaningful conversation about life and how people stand up for each other.

β€œTo be painted with such a huge scarlet letter for that just seems so unfair.”

Shanahan claimed she knew who the “sources” were who said she was having an affair, adding, “I forgive you, and I’m moving on.”

Shanahan attended the University of Puget Sound in 2003, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and Mandarin Chinese, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She then studied global intellectual property trafficking and Chinese law at the National University of Singapore in 2013 before taking up law school at Santa Clara University.

By her early 20s, Modern Luxury reports, she got a job at RPX Corporation as a patent specialist, but quit after just 10 months after being sexually assaulted.

She and Brin met at a yoga retreat in 2016, according to the Journal. At the time, she was a patent attorney and tech entrepreneur in her own right.

She was profiled on the cover of San Francisco magazine in June 2021, where she was heralded as a “change maker,” telling the interviewer how she overcame a childhood with a “bipolar, schizophrenic father.”

β€œMy father was diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia when I was nine, and my Chinese-born mother had only been in the US for two years when I was born. β€œI had two unemployed parents for most of my childhood, so not only was there no money, there was almost no parental guidance, and as you can imagine with a mentally ill father, there was a lot of chaos and fear.”

She talked about growing up on food stamps and busing tables at age 12, and how the Internet changed her life.

β€œWithout the Internet, I’d probably still be in Oakland doing the same thing I was doing when I was 12.”

Musk was one of the first dot.com billionaires. He founded the company that later became PayPal.

Nicole talked in her interview about her desire to leave a legacy of “ideas” and “help the planet.”

‘I want my legacy to be one of ideas. I want it to be about developing the human experience on this planet in an abundant way. I want it to be one of strength, love and compassion. I want it to be one of hard work, learning from your mistakes and personal growth.”

About her early love life with Brin, she said, β€œI was living in a fairy tale. It was magical.

“It seemed like we could really solve a lot of the world’s problems with technology then.”

But she quickly realized they weren’t a perfect fit after their 2018 wedding. They separated in December 2021 and filed for divorce in June 2022.
