Google Cloud – here’s why we can be your perfect business partner for generative AI

As generative AI becomes more prevalent in businesses around the world, Google Cloud has doubled down on its commitment to providing its customers and partners with the best possible technology.

Speaking at the company’s Google Cloud Next London event, several top executives wanted to emphasize the role that generative AI tools can play in its future successes.

“We have the right platform to help developers build with AI, we have the right products to help everyone use AI, and we’re fortunate to have the right partners to ensure every organization can use AI ,” said Adaire Fox-Martin, president of Google Cloud Go to Market.

Helen Kelisky, Managing Director of Google Cloud UKI, also noted at the event that Google had effectively been an “AI company” since CEO Sundar Pichai announced this ambition for the company in 2016.

Fox-Martin added that this move “has essentially given us a head start of more than a decade”, with the company since then working on AI, an effort which she said has put Google firmly at the forefront of innovation and leadership, and adds: “We have made it our mission to put this lead to good use.”

“We are seeing an unprecedented pace of innovation,” she noted, “generative AI has not only captured our imaginations, but in many cases has made those imaginations actionable.”

This innovation extends to the users, with Kelisky highlighting that not only were 40% of the FTSE 100 Google Cloud customers, but also 60% of the UK’s generative AI unicorns, as well as 70% of headquartered generative AI startups in Great Britain.

Going forward, it’s clear that Google Cloud wants to keep this development going, and the company’s portfolio means it’s well prepared to do so.

“Google is unique in the industry because we offer first-party models that we manage ourselves, open source models and a variety of third-party models through the Model Garden,” said Phil Moyer, the company’s VP of Global AI & Business Solutions.

But more importantly, the company is also placing security and safety in its AI development, promising to protect private data used by companies to customize fundamental models for specific use cases.

“Our promise to you is that your data is your data, and your training is your training,” Moyer said.
