As revealed by Reddit user Leopeva64-2 and reported by MSPowerUser, Google Chrome is getting a new feature that allows users to close a tab by double-clicking it, which is especially useful when you have too many tabs open. The reason is that when too many tabs are open, the ‘X’ button is no longer visible, which means you should normally click directly on the tab. But with the double-tap method, closing redundant tabs becomes much easier and faster.
Like in Edge, this option will most likely have an option to enable and disable in the browser settings. If this feature eventually gets fully developed, Chrome Canary — a beta version of Chrome aimed primarily at developers, passionate tech users, and browser enthusiasts — will most likely test it first, followed by Chrome Stable users.
Google Chrome has stepped it up
The quick tab closing feature is one of many that Google has introduced in its Chrome browser. Lately, the tech giant has been focused on making sweeping changes aimed at Apple iOS. For example, it looks like that Google’s Chromium engineers are testing the Blink browser engine on iOS devices rather than Apple’s WebKit engine, which is most likely preparing for a point in the future where it could power Chrome with the Blink engine.
