Google has tweaked its calendar app’s UI to include new location suggestions, which it hopes will make it easier for hybrid employees to schedule the right type of meetings.
Where users normally type in a location name, Google Calendar now presents a series of suggestions “based on your recent locations” to help you schedule an appointment faster.
This is designed to work with previous updates where the Google Workspace tool added support for work locations, where an organization can have more than one office or location.

In a blog post (opens in new tab) Google announced the news, noting that quick-release domains have already rolled out, with release domains planned to get the update later in March, and that’s for eligible account holders only.
These include Google Workspace Business Standard/Plus, Enterprise Standard/Plus, Education Fundamentals/Plus/Standard, Teaching & Learning Upgrade, Nonprofits, and legacy G Suite Business customers. Entry-level Google Workspace subscriptions and personal customers are not included in the upgrade.
A firm favorite among companies looking to invest tools for online collaboration, Google has been adding new features to Calendar since the pandemic. Account admins can now ask employees to share their work locations company-wide to make hybrid work less of a task.
Employees can also choose to share their working hours and absence status with colleagues and clients to make it easier to find a suitable time.
Easier calendar scheduling could be welcome news for employees in Google’s Cloud division, who were recently asked to cut office days from three to two, and instead share desks every other day.
