Homeless Good Samaritan Saves Toddler Dumped On Side Of Street After Car Thief Took SUV While Sleeping In Backseat

A Good Samaritan who is homeless helped a two-year-old boy reunite with his parents after a thief stole the car the little boy was sleeping in.
Police are now looking for a man who stole the SUV whose owners left their sleeping two-year-old in it.
The boy’s parents had stopped at a relative’s house in Florida and, not wanting to disturb the boy, let him sleep in the front seat of the car.
Seconds later, the thief managed to break in and steal the car while the little boy was still sleeping inside.

A short distance from where the car was stolen, the suspect removed the child from the car and left him on a nearby street where he was found shortly afterwards by a Good Samaritan.
“I didn’t see any parents around and he was crying a little bit, so I thought I’d better check on him,” Darrel Everman told ABC News.
“It was important to me to keep him calm, so I acted like nothing important was happening.
“I drove up to my storage unit there on State Avenue and I looked to my right and there’s a kid about five feet down the road. I knew that didn’t look good. I was worried. He looked like he needed some help, and I was glad I was there to help him,” said Everman.
“I’m glad he’s okay. I thank God for putting me in trouble trying to find him. I was glad I made the right decisions to help him.”
“I didn’t see any parents around and he was crying a little bit, so I thought I’d better check on him,” Good Samaritan Darrel Everman told ABC News.

The little boy was unharmed, but seemed a little distressed by the whole ordeal

The officers kept the little boy calm while giving him a toy to calm him down
Everman, 57, quickly alerted the police who were on the scene and managed to reunite the toddler with his concerned family.

‘How are you friend? Everthing okay?’ said the officer in the video before handing him an Elmo toy. ‘Do you want to come with me, friend? Do you want to go to your mama?’
Holly Hill’s police chief a community watch meeting that Everman is the definition of community watch.
Everman has been homeless for several years and lives outside his car. He was invited to dinner at the community watch meeting.
“I received a gift card. They’re talking about an oil change. They might get me a job,” Everman said WESH.
Florida authorities are still searching for the suspect and the stolen vehicle.
